Peek in, sneak about
WHO: Cu Chulainn (
lucke) and Bane (
breakyou)
WHERE: Cordoned-off Warehouse on the Wharf
WHEN: 1/19 Sunday, 0837
WHAT: Although still uncertain of his loyalties, Cu Chulainn offers to help investigate arson down by the docks. Little does he know he isn't the only one who has taken an interest in this city's criminal element.
WARNINGS: Drug references. Rampant Machismo. Possibly some leg humping. Will update as necessary.
[A slight glimmer is the only thing that marks Cu Chulainn's reentry to the physical world. Soundlessly he sets down like a phantom, so gently the dusting of ash within the confines of the taped off building isn't disturbed.
With his sudden corporeality his sensitive nose is assailed by the smell of ash, oxidation, cardboard and a host of other industrial scents. Smoke damage and soot blanked the already dark facility giving it a eerie sense of gloom. With passing curiosity, Cu Chulainn raises his crimson eyes to the only source of a light: a section of burnt out roofing that allowed a gentle cone of light to drift down onto the charred concrete below.
However his curiosity is immediately redirected when his expanding senses detect something nearby.
A presence.]
Who's there?
[He calls over his shoulder]

Who's there?
[He calls over his shoulder]

no subject
He has been a prisoner before. Since then, he has learned that cages can be made of different walls -- or have no walls at all. Heropa is disarming enough, but Bane will not pay into the illusion.
So, he follows the trail of another man's hunt: he remembers him from the City and the network. His demeanor had fair potential, and Bane was curious to see if he was worth his boasting.
Given that he has detected Bane already, he is off to a promising start. ]
Are you yielding to their whims, like a dog?
[ He asks as he steps forward, masked and standing tall. ]
no subject
Even if he has to angle his view up a bit, Cu Chulainn give no indication that the size of the man approaching gives him any pause. If anything he seems amused.]
And who are you to question a man's loyalties? I should warn you, I've put men in the ground for less.
[A brief pause.]
Wait, I know you, don't I?
no subject
[ Bane crosses his arms across his chest. ]
We spoke; I admired your determination.
I am not in any mood to fight you.
no subject
[He turns back to the charred remains, the broken coals wheezing under his steps as he approaches the damaged area.]
You're the guy who was going to save us from our 'prison'.
[Shaking his head, he stops under the light and glances up at the blue sky outside.]
How's that working out for you?
no subject
[ Bane himself surveys the room. He walks, examines, while speaking to Lancer at the same time. ]
If you have noticed, our cage has changed; I must reassess the situation.
[ His masked face tips in his direction. ]
What do you make of this supposed arson?
no subject
Pretty ridiculous system they have. Escape one prison, end up in another.
[A small shape catches his eyes and he bends over to brush away the soot.]
Oh it's definitely arson.
[He holds up half a broken glass bottle.]
From the looks of things, someone fire-bombed this place.
[Tipping his noes closer he takes a quick couple whiffs.]
Home made napalm. Not your standard combustibles.
no subject
[ He watches Lancer's movements, more beast-like than man, which is reminiscent of Thomas Blake. He lingers on that comparison as he speaks. He asks questions, testing the waters of the man before him. ]
I do not doubt that it was a bomb. However, it may not be so simply stated. This scene may be to disguise something darker.
After all: why this location?
no subject
Cu Chulainn sat back on his heels as he scrutinized the area around them. No, vandalism was generally a random act meant to make a statement or catharsis. This was too focused.
One bomb, meant to destroy one section of the warehouse.]
It was an attack. [Musing aloud.] Someone wanted this this place out of the picture.
[But why? His mind almost completely focused on this strange scenario almost completely forgetting his new companion. There was just something about the soothing, controlled way he spoke that eased Cu Chulainn's mind. Diverting him.]

[ Bane steps forward, idly touching a charred wall. ]
The gangs of this place beg for study.
no subject
[Cu Chulainn shakes his head in derision.]
Men of character don't hide their actions behind lies and fly the scene to escape their deeds.
[But he does give pause for a moment, slowly testing the air as he considers the Large Man's words.]
An attack on themselves... You might be right. [He actually looks impressed as he stands.] But what darker purpose would they have then? This place would seem nothing more than a distribution center full of boxes and-
[Wait a second. A singular thread amidst the tangled myriad of scents being carefully picked apart in his sinus suddenly pulls at his attention. One that shouldn't be there.
Turning, he strides over to a nearby metal cupboard that seemed to have escaped the fire, aside from a light bronzing. He gives the combo lock fastening the doors no more than a dismissive glance before twisting it off the door with a whining SNAP and tossing it over his shoulder. With abandon he flings open the doors revealing several blue and white boxes.]
Baby formula?
no subject
Study does not necessarily equate to admiration. One studies an opponent to know how best to conquer him.
[ Bane does not interfere with the man's hunt, tilting his head as he exposes the contents of the cupboard.
Baby formula. That seems far too innocent. ]
Disguised, or not?
no subject
This warehouse had no product here. Aside from shipping materials. It was designed to produce the supplies to allow other facilities to package and ship their materials.
Which made this baby powder way out of its element.
Not to mention there was something wrong with its smell. After opening it he gave a quick sniff. There was something foreign mixed in the powder. Something that almost had no smell, but what little it did was of a chemical he didn't recognize.]
Well then, here. Study this. What do you make of it?
