"Your 'first' name is your 'given' name, right?" Wen Ning frowns slightly in his confusion. He wants to figure this out properly. Calling him Mr. Alleyne was formal, as one might call him by his surname and an honorific. Using just his surname with nothing else felt odd, but he would go with the young man's wishes. "Is just your given name too informal?"

It would be odd for Wen Ning to be called just 'Ning', but he also has two names to give. Just using his courtesy name would work better. How is it that it seems less confusing for him with two names than it does with one? He must be thinking about it too hard.
