Jin Ling knows very little about everything that has happened or why Sizhui is missing. His communicator has been uninteresting to him, without any emotional connection to the messages he receives, so he has mostly left it forgotten in his sleeve.

After leaving his uncle's place without announcement, he wanders the Porter cities for a few days, seeking entertainment. Eventually he tires of his adventures and wants comfort and rest again, so he returns home to find the place empty. But there's the television and the network for entertainment, so he curls up on the couch with Fairy, eating ice cream and watching trashy reality TV shows which require no emotional investment.
