That felt like a loaded question, having to admit certain things. His usual overconfidence had been shaken enough that he did answer somewhat like a confession here.

"I use them all the time. But not like this... You see, usually I'm wearing a suit - a superhero suit. It powers and guides and focuses the energy." He'd taken to that new reality very quickly six months ago. It felt right in the suit - even if the suit itself could be annoyingly uncomfortable at times. But now... he didn't need it. Maybe it would be easier... but he had to learn without it. At the very least he was now less vulnerable to surprise attacks.

"It's ... just taking some getting used to to focus without wearing the suit."

But he is still hovering quite steadily now.
