Honestly, Crowley is still waiting for Gabriel to - what? Accuse him of something. Of being incapable of love, for one thing. After all, as far as he's aware, that's what angels think of demons. It's what he believed of himself, for a long time. That he was incapable of loving, and being loved.
Part of him still definitely believes that - especially the bit about being loved.
The fact that Gabriel has yet to say anything along those lines, even in confusion, is - well, confusing in and of itself. But he's also not about to start the argument. Especially not here and now. Right now, he's going to let the archangel walk off (a relief) and go hunting for Aziraphale.
