[Yusei listens closely, his lips pursed into his usual frown and his brows furrowed in characteristic seriousness. It really looks like he's listening impassively, feeling nothing from this man's impassioned retelling, his casual admittance to not being human. But behind his stoic face is someone listening intently, someone wondering...why does this sound familiar? This insistence that a god's guiding hand is needed in the world, that people need not think for themselves...?

It doesn't sit well with him.]

"Unfortunately," you say? Is it unfortunate, then, that we are human?

[Yusei raises an eyebrow.]

We are who we are because...we follow our own will. What sets people apart from others is our willingness to go beyond...to push our own limits. We evolved...created more and more...because we were not content with simply staying alive. To be human...is to have that free will.

[His eyes look distant as he keeps talking, clearly remembering some unpleasant memories.]

Like you said, having that free will...brings problems. But it also brings the ability to face those problems with the best of our ability - to learn, and to grow, and to correct ourselves and our mistakes. It's a harder road to salvation than simply not thinking, simply believing. But...

[A breath.]

For some people...it's easier, not to think, just to look up for salvation, but...I think for most people...we wouldn't want it just handed to us. Isn't it more worth it, more deserved if...even with our ability to think, to make the wrong decisions, to fall astray...that we can bring ourselves back up to being deserving, regardless?
