[despite how much things have changed, the elements of this gathering are similar enough as to bring a great deal of comfort to an anxious Martin, who, despite being taller and looking more different almost by the day, still yearns for this sort of familiarity. he's more eager than ever to help make this happen, so before soup's on, he's at-hand to ferry around supplies or clean stuff up as asked.
familiar faces are ones he has no trouble greeting at the door in his typical manner, all crooked smiles and sheepish looks and offers to take coats or things that were brought along. everyone will be very grateful that he was convince to shower and clean up so he's not as greasy a sore as he's been getting lately, but man..being 15 is not the best look. he doesn't know what to do about the zits besides pick at them when he thinks nobody's looking. sorry, Lester.
at dinnertime he doesn't stay at the busy table or endless chain of moving bodies at the counters, but instead perches himself on a spot on the stairs -- a favorite lookout point for him to be able to be out of the way while taking in as much of the goings-on as he can at once, all while being able to shovel food in his face. it's a good spot. he won't refuse anyone to join him.
he's not very good at mingling, but his attention can be pulled by the call of his name or direct eye contact -- whichever comes first. otherwise, he might just be zoning out staring at nothing...or you, but like, in a staring-at-nothing kind of way people do when definitely thinking on other stuff.
and, of course, because he lives here, he'll help clean up without being asked, because he's been through enough of these to know what needs doing, and he's glad to have a function!]
