Jeopardy

Standing just outside of one of the bars, David had his hands in his jean's pockets and was leaning against the wall, watching the door like a hawk sensing prey. It may seem like he was waiting to see if somebody was coming out, and that would be true. But this wasn't for any pick up. He'd been assigned the ridiculous job (for him) of locksmith but he was actually a detective and he'd tracked a man who had been attempting to break into a nearby shop. Unfortunately, David had lost him in a crowd on the way but he's sure the culprit had ducked into the bar. Not officially a cop at present, he thought it best not to make a scene inside, and so he was waiting to make a citizen's arrest instead.

It wasn't a major crime but David was dedicated to his investigative work and being without it didn't feel right. So he was unofficially working on his own.

At first, he didn't notice the young woman approaching him.
