Luther opens his mouth, on the verge of arguing with that pronouncement — but then he just flounders soundlessly and snaps it shut again, because he knows it's true. He would've tried to stop him. By hook or by crook, by physically dragging Diego back into place or just outright commanding him to stay put, Luther would've done everything he possibly could to keep the Academy together. In desperation, and fear. Particularly when it was the first sibling to go. Especially because it was the first, and setting a precedent was important. The captain couldn't allow a mutineer.

He still feels sick and nauseous with the anger, the way it echoes and bounces off Diego, but this new understanding and Diego's quieter voice hamstrings the emotion. Cuts through it.

"You've got a point," he says, and it's a concession. The closest he can get to admitting that Diego's right. "I probably would've stopped you."
