[Those words come quicker than the last ones. Not tripped up this time. Quick. Short. Clipped.

And this is where the issue of lack of tone comes in with text communication. It doesn't seem rueful to Diego's eyes. It looks so much more like he had let slip something he didn't mean to-- didn't mean-- and now he had to scramble to cover it up, find a way to take it back somehow.

So, it's twisted wrong in his head and in his chest as he reads those words. Like they were-- he was-- some sort of obligation that Luther had to accept and be okay with because what other choice was there, anyway and of course they'd gravitate toward each other more than strangers, if for nothing more than familiarity of an upbringing long-buried, but not forgotten.]
