BEACH MEDITATION.

Honestly, it's kind of not the best thing to go to the beach when your skin is shiny and kind of blinding. But hey, even biokinetics need some sun. Josh is giving the world a small mercy, hiding underneath a beach umbrella in a pair of black swim trunks. His arms fold behind his head, a pair of shades perched on the edge of his nose, and a nap threatening to claim what he intended to be a day of swimming.

But hey, you with the sunburn brewing? Try as he might to ignore it, he's getting up and he's armed with some sunscreen, tapping on your shoulder and offering it out with a wince. "Trust me, you *need* this."

HEROPAS CLUB SCENE.

Being a good looking imPort has its benefits, and those benefits are the ability to get into any club he wants to. Josh is - well, there's a lot on his mind, and when there's a lot on his mind he either cuts and runs or he throws himself hard into the more frivolous parts of life. Which is what he's doing here, now, leaning hard into anything that lets him not think about how his past seems to be catching up with him and all the terrible things he's done and how easy it is to do them.

So, y'know, here he is. Paying for everybody's drinks and dancing like he doesn't have a care. Are you kind of cute and unattached? He's keen to strike up a conversation, sliding a drink over and flashing a smile and a wink. Or are you up for dancing? Because he's dancing - he's - he's not very good at it, but he's about what you can expect from any typical guy at a club. Who needs moves when you have gyrating to the beat of some bass heavy club song?

PROFESSIONALISM.

And, of course, he's back in time for his shift at the hospital. Do you got the hiccups? A headcold? Do you have some terrible injury you should've had looked at? Maybe you're just overdue for a checkup. The doctor is in and he's here to help.

Doctor Josh is pretty different from Regular Flavor Josh. A little more serious and somber - less sad and more focused, because he's in his element whether or not he really wants to be. He snags the chart as he steps in, flashing a bright smile.

"Well, what brings you in here today?"

Peter is really, really starting to regret going to a normal school. First there was getting stuck in sophomore year. Then there's this weird obsession with field trips? Which is why he's in De Chima to begin with when his high school is based in Nonah, but apparently there's some incredibly boring facility tour his class was scheduled to go on and. Look, Peter tries to be good and respectful, but he has a bad habit of leaving school trips anyway, and this had just been mind numbing ...

Which is how he got hit by the car. Right in front of a teacher, which was the problem. If he'd gotten hit with no one watching, he could have just wandered off into an alley to sit while his broken leg reheals itself and think about his life choices. But no, someone saw him, which means freakouts, which means being dragged to the local hospital and ...

So here's a bloodied teenager in your office who's actually (mostly) completely fine. His chart says he broke his leg and got a concussion, and there's blood in both spots to indicate he got a hell of a hit, but. Um. There's no injuries. (His chart also lists his name as Peter Parker if that happens to ring any bells.)

Peter, meanwhile, looks rather uncomfortable sitting in this wheelchair. He can't just walk out of there without totally giving away his powers to his teachers (and he doesn't want to do that!), but he's not sure how to even handle this with a doctor. Man, he really wishes his aunt were here. He's already wondering if there's an adult here who can take guardianship of him just to keep him out of dumb doctor's visits like this.

"So, this is gonna sound weird," he says, looking away from the door when Josh first comes in. Still trying to figure out how to navigate this in his head. "I got hit by a car, but I'm fine, and I really just need one of those casts you can take off after a couple days? My teacher's gonna freak out if I come back out without something on."

He hasn't looked over at Josh yet, so he hasn't spotted his unusual skin tone. Or how young he is.

Really, Josh? Everyone knew that David was a wet blanket. And surely David would be the sort of thing that is the past that Josh is trying to get away from. But here he is anyway. Invited because he was invited, and really, he wasn't going to turn down the best friend he'd gotten back into his life at last.

Which was why David was here, dressed nice for a club, but he does keep himself mostly covered up. And mostly away from Josh's antics most of the night, but he does smile at Josh when he comes back to the bar to buy a drink for someone.

"Having fun, Golden Boy?"

He's starting to get used to seeing names of people he knew in his own world, reimagined as teenagers or, like, not the tenured heroes he grew up watching the New York city skies for.

But still, this one gives him pause. Josh glances up from the chart to the kid sitting before him, a fun-sized friendly neighborhood Spiderguy instead of the only superhero his parents ever really tolerated him admiring.

"Well, I've got good news and bad news," he grabs a chair and scoots forward, extending a hand to suss out if there's any other damage to worry about. "Good news is you can keep your secret. Bad news is if I were gonna give you a cast, that'd look pretty suspicious. "

Oh boy. Peter's system is a whole mess of things that shouldn't be physically possible, depending on how deep down this rabbit hole Josh wants to go. If it's just a surface level look, then he is, indeed, mostly fine. The concussion has mostly faded, and his freshly broken leg is already mostly reset. A little nudge to make sure it finishes healing up and Peter's back to the state he was in before. There are a few older scars here. Mostly minor, but his right leg isn't quite right, courtesy of getting hit by a train. Mysterio was kind of a dick.

If he wants to go into Peter's unique physiology ... well. There's a lot more detail there. Starting with that healing factor burning in him like a fever, eating up calories like crazy. That radioactive blood of his would be incredibly damaging otherwise, so it never really turns off. There's his senses being dialed up to eleven, causing all kinds of sensory weirdness. And, well. Super strength. That probably looks weird too.

Anyway, as soon as Josh puts a hand on Peter, he looks over. And - um. Stares. He stares real hard. "I - uh - why?" he asks, as he tries to figure out there's a polite way to point out this dude's skin is literally golden. "Do you. Not like casts? Or something?"

Weird doesn't really begin to cover it. But Josh has been in the same room with Deadpool and he's pretty sure nothing tops the physiological nightmare that is a thousand year old vaguely zombified Wade Wilson. The kid's not in dire shape so he focuses on giving his system a boost and a push in the right direction and then withdraws his hand.

But staring doesn't bother him. It did when he first got here - because of course it did, staring typically went hand in hand with some lunatic trying to attack him. Here it's coupled with someone wanting an autograph, or a selfie, or to thank him for some work he did on a relative or a friend. It's a good feeling.

"No point in sticking a cast on a healed leg," he shrugs, flashing a smile. "My name's Josh Foley, I'm a healer. They said a kid had been bowled over by a car and sent for me, because, like... they aren't usually in any shape to be asking for fake casts after that happens."

He indicates his right leg.

"What happened there?"

[Jason has been making the rounds around the porter cities, lately, especially those he doesn't spend as much time in, like Heropa. Because what better what to get exposure for being a young up and coming entrepreneur looking into the nightlife than to...well, be seen checking out the local nightlife.

He's a big surprised to be the golden boy he's spoken to a couple times, moving around the dance floor and buying a bunch of people drinks. The first impression he'd gotten of the gotten had been more of the Responsible Type, but hey, you know never with people these days. So he comes up near enough to be heard over the music, hair in short loose curls with red streaks.]

You enjoying the music or the company?

She's been out with Josh before, which isn't what happened tonight. It's still not much of a surprise to find him outside on the street, among those filtering out of the surrounding establishments after Last Call. Laurie's still good and toasted, her ears ringing a little from the blasting speakers of the club she'd just left. She's still not sure she's suited for this kind of thing, but aspects of it are nice and comforting somehow, if short-lived.

Anyway... Where was she? Right.

"Josh! Hey! Wait up!" She jogs forward, at least a little awkward given her heels and tipsiness. When she catches up, she grabs him by the arm and uses that (in an acted kind of way) to right herself. Balance is easier with help, right?

"Where you headed?"

Okay, that is an excellent and fair point. There's no way in hell Peter gets anywhere near that level of weirdness, even with all his spider-power-nonsense. And all he really needs is that push anyway. He immediately straightens despite himself; his leg and his head had been hurting him, even if they'd also been mostly healed. He's always kind of sore after a fresh round of healing factor helping him out, so it's nice to skip that part of the process.

"Nice to meet you. Um - I'm Peter." And Josh knows the rest from his chart. He rubs at the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed by that description. It's not wrong, of course, but ... "I'm honestly more worried about the people in the car? I didn't see if I dented it or not."

It's a real and valid concern when you have strength like his, okay. Normally he tries to jump, but ... well. His right leg is still giving him trouble. He jolts a bit at that, surprised? And then not surprised. Healer, right. He's already in pretty deep on this dude knowing stuff about him, so he might as well continue to be honest.

"I got hit by a train," he says. It's not the whole story, but it is true. "One of those bullet ones in Germany. I don't think it healed right."

"Always."

He's not at all bothered to turn his attention away from the pretty girl he'd been chatting up. David having fun comes first - because David hasn't had fun in a very, very long time, and he's keen to let loose now and again.

If only so he doesn't get in his head to run away to tibet because that, shockingly, solves none of the problems he leaves behind in America.

He flags down the waiter for another drink - rum and coke, where 90 percent is rum and ten percent is coke, because healing factors hate alcohol - and refocuses his attention on David.

"Can't help but notice you aren't dancing, Brain Boy."

No one has called him that in years. The closest had been when Tommy has accused him of being a genius several times over and having a super big brain. But he takes the old phrase with a far more accepting smile than he had in the old days. The last thing either of them needs is judgmental high school David making trips to Tibet look even more tempting.

“You know, most people would consider a man made of gold attractive. But a man made up of brain? Less so,” he offers back, avoiding the not-quite accusation for now. “Which explains in part all of the people that seem eager to drape themselves around you. But with how distracted they leave you, you shouldn’t be certain I haven’t danced.”

There were no doubt moments Josh hadn’t been looking at him. That was his defense. A totally BS one of course.

Oh hey.

[ The problem with being biokinetic is the sheer amount you have to drink to feel anything. He can fuck with his tolerance levels but that only works so long, his system automatically healing. ]

Bit of column A, but of column B? I didn't take you for a party animal.

[Jason laughs.] My kind of party is actually a good book and a pair of headphones. But you learn a lot about the business seeing things from the customers' view.

"Oh, please, intelligence is sexy if you show it off right. And I know you haven't danced, 'cause you're not sweaty."

He spins around in his barstool, bringing the drink to his lips and cracking a broad smile around the rim of the glass.

Was it now? Intelligence has never gotten him laid. Clearly the people he absorbed his sharp intellect from in part has never learned to show it off right. Which was a joke he kept himself from using. Instead..

“Nori always thought so,” David teases. He didn’t feel it was needed to trot out the ‘until it wasn’t enough.’ Instead he kept his smile in place and offered a slight roll of his hand to indicate that josh’s other comment was a aolutely accurate.

“Touché. Of course I could just have danced less or have really good antiperspirant. But, and this is going to sound bad... I can only pull off ballroom dancing. Shocking, right?”

And the chance that inebriated dance partners might get a bit friendly with touches. Sure he could cover all of his arms and legs and hands, but his face and neck were unavoidably bare.

When Josh is not trying to help people with their sunburns, Jonathan, a guy who can't even get a sunburn, but was enjoying a day out at the beach, sunning himself, decides to head over.

"Hey, you're looking better than the last time I saw you." Which isn't saying much. "How're you doing?"

"Oh, hey man."

Don't stare directly at him, the light bouncing off his skin is kind of blinding.

"Not much, enjoying a few days off. You?"

"Well, as far as I can tell they're fine. Otherwise? I'd be in there and not here." At least a little touch of home might be comforting. Josh's accent is thickly Queens, which is probably the most jarring thing about him. As if being a walking oscar statue with magical healing powers barely into his twenties didn't make him stand out enough.

"So, the bumps and bruises I can handle. Older injuries are, uh, a little bit trickier, but I can have a go of putting it back together." He indicates the injured leg again. "I do need to be touching the area to heal it. So, if that's cool, I can get to work."

"Wh- oh, hey Laurie!"

It's still, like, weird. Even after all these months. But he gives his arm over automatically, unable to stop himself from taking in the sight of her before he catches himself.

"I got an invite to an afterparty. I was thinkin' about going." An after party for what he couldn't say, someone'd just brought it up in conversation and - not really wanting to go home yet - he'd shrugged and said sure. "You wanna come with?"

Oh, dude, seriously? You look way too good to spend your nights like that!

[ he's probably joking. ]

But replace book with a movie of a book and you have my usual days off.

Nori is probably a topic best left untouched. God help him if she ever shows up here - her, Julian and Cessily would probably string him up by his ears and take turns hitting him like a pinata for the disappearing stunt he pulled. Last he heard, they were all still X-Men.

But no. Nope. This is a party.

"Aw, you nerd. I'll dance with you. That way you can steal all my mad skills." His mad skills are neither mad nor skills, but they're enough to not look like a total idiot.

Look, Peter is delighted to hear another Queens accent. His own is mostly subdued when outside the borough, but hearing it now brings it back out a little.

"Okay, I'm glad," he says, relieved. If his own stupidity gets him hurt, that's one thing. But hurting other people? Oh god, please no. That's a trip straight down Uncle Ben memory lane. "And - uh, if you wanna try it, I'm okay with trying it." What's the worst that could happen? Either it works or his leg is still sore, whatever.

"Cool, let's give it a shot."

He gestures for Peter to hop up on the bed and lay down - because that's just a lot easier in general. He's on standby to help if he needs it.

"So you just keeping the whole secret identity thing out of habit, oooor...?"

Nori is probably a person that is best left untouched. Even with a rubber pole from twenty feet away.

But David? David's laughing hard at the idea that Josh has skills.

"By mad to you mean crazy, and by crazy I mean spastic?"

In all honesty, she'd been looking forward to collapsing into a heap, but... She's supposed to be new and improved, fun Laurie. She can do another party. Maybe there'll be free booze. Maybe there'll be free weed. That's cool and fun, yeah?

"Yeah," she answers, maybe a little loud, at which she smiles and bites her lip a little. Then she promptly starts digging through her purse, finding a hair elastic before shoving her purse at Josh. "Hold this. Please."

She then stops, pitches forward at the waist so that she's standing half-bent, and gathers her hair up into a messy bun. After that, she's upright again and, apart from a little wobble, good to go. She takes her purse and his arm back.

"Good night so far?"

It's cute. Cuter than he wants to admit, honestly - he offers his arm out with a grin. Worst case scenario, well, he is a doctor and anybody who needs sobering up can get it. That's probably why people like having him around, hangover free mornings.

"It was okay. Just got a whole lot better. What about you?"
