WHO: Jotaro, Dio and eventually Joseph Joestar.
WHERE: Wherever Dio finds Jotaro.
WHEN: 24/08, evening time. After the sun has set.
WHAT: Now that Dio's confident he has the advantage, he's decided to confront his shounen protagonist after a month of waiting and watching. Rather than have a physical confrontation though, Dio's decided to employ more subtle tactics to defeat his enemy...
WARNINGS: Violence! Also Dio continuing to manipulate people for his own gain.

[Dio was without fear.

It was something he acknowledged, that the only thing he thought he had to fear was the Joestar lineage, especially after Jotaro defeated him. But knowing Jotaro is from so far back, having yet to learn how to stop time, coupled with the fact Dio is fully aware of what that man is capable of now...he was feeling a lot more confident about it this time around.

So today, a day after Shade told him everything he needed to know, Dio set out after sundown in order to find Jotaro and finally confront him. He's surprised Jotaro himself hadn't already discovered he was here, but all the better for him.

Now it was just a case of finding him.]

[Jotaro had been helping out with the cleanup and renovation of that man Xavier's potential school, but despite being unsettled, he still crashed at the apartment he'd been assigned.

So he's just walking down the street to the residences with his hands in his pockets. No big.]

[His appearance to Jotaro is no less dramatic than anyone would expect.]

...Jotaro Kujo.

[And there he is, seated on the roof of a nearby parked car, one leg crossed over the other. Could've sworn he wasn't there a moment ago? That's because he wasn't. Freaky time stop shit going down right here.]

[Jotaro whirls around at the voice; he was sure he had been alone on the streets a moment ago.

And his eyes widen. He's never seen that man's face, but he knows the physique. The hair. The aura of menace, exactly as Avdol had described it.] Dio Brando...!

That's right.

[Not that that really mattered, but.]

You've been adjusting well, haven't you? Or at least so I've been told.

[Not really true, but he'll leave the implication that someone he's been talking to is feeding him information. Try and set some paranoia in if he can.]

[Who? Who could possibly have been talking about him? He's been careful to not let anything on about their trip to Egypt. But someone here, keeping tabs on him?]

You have one of your Stand users here?

Subordinates are expendable, Jotaro. None of my old ones are here, so I just decided to start getting new ones.

[Again, not really true.]

After all, I've been busy this month. I couldn't possibly keep up with two Joestars at once, so I decided to leave you until now, and in the meantime have someone keep an eye on you for me...

You've been watching the old man? He doesn't even know who you are yet.

[His mind is racing, trying to think of who could possibly be informing on him. He hasn't met anyone who seems untrustworthy, but then again, it could just be a good act...

...he takes his hands out of his pockets, cracking his knuckles.] Tch, I don't care what you have to say for yourself. You're saving me a lot of trouble, showing your face like this.

[He pushes himself off of the car roof, sliding off of it into a standing position.]

Let me make one thing clear; you'll have already lost the moment you throw the first punch, Jotaro. I won't even need my stand to take care of you. No, I don't think I'll even need to lift a single finger.

That's your only warning.

[Of course, he's hoping taking that attitude with him will just provoke Jotaro further. He was such an angry teenager after all.]

Tch... You can be as arrogant as you want, vampire. But if you underestimate me, that'll be your downfall.

[And the Stand is there beside him.] Use your Stand, Dio. This is for Holly Kujo.

No, I don't think I will. You heard what I said.

[He remains where he is, unmoving, with that smug grin on his face.]

If it takes the life of I, Dio, in exchange for hers so that she might live...then I hope she's lived a fulfilling life up until now, because it isn't going to last much longer.

I suppose the bright side is this time, once I've killed another relative of Joseph's, he'll at least have known them before losing them this time. He wasn't so lucky with his grandfather.

[And he'll shittalk as much as it takes to provoke him.]

It's 2014. If I didn't kill you in Egypt 25 years ago, she's dead. So really, this is for me.

[And that Joseph dig is what gets Jotaro.

[Well, here's the hard part. Allowing himself to take a barrage of punches from Star Platinum is hell, but it's necessary. Each punch that's thrown hits him without interruption and just like he said, he doesn't call his stand. Doesn't even defend himself.

But after it stops, he doesn't look angry or even worried. He's just grinning.

In fact, he starts laughing.]

Ghk...predictable! Too predictable Jotaro! [Not that Jotaro would be aware of it, but this is usually when Dio's regeneration would kick in and heal up his wounds, soak the excess blood back into him through his skin...but it doesn't. All the injuries are there for everyone to see.] I, Dio, am soon to be the victor here...and I want you to remember why it is you lost.

It's because you got pissed off!

[Apparently that's funny for some reason, because he laughs at it like he's laughing at his own joke.]

[Dio really isn't fighting back. What the hell is going on? Jotaro is tactically-minded enough to know that this has to be some sort of trick.

Part of him doesn't care. Star Platinum finishes with a giant ORAAAAA uppercut to Dio's jaw.]

[Funny, how they all live in the same neighborhood in Heropa. Funny, how this horrible clusterfuck hasn't happened already.

Joseph's on his way back from a late night run to the grocery store when he sees a somewhat familiar black jacket in the distance. Jotaro, maybe? And... Jotaro's Stand? Punching something? It's a few houses past his own, but he probably should check out what's going on anyway.]

Hey, Jotaro!

[Shifting his grocery bag from both hands to just one to wave, the closer Joseph gets to the 'fight,' he realizes it's another person Jotaro's beating the shit out of. And it's... Dio?? The hell? Joseph drops his bag and runs over... to Dio.]

What the fuck, Jotaro??

[Perfect. Time to play the victim here.

Considering he's made of far tougher stuff than most stand users, the uppercut doesn't do fatal damage, but he does violently stagger backwards into the car he was sitting on moments ago. His confident posture and arrogant grin is gone, replaced with a concerned expression and poorer posture, as if it's difficult to stand fully.

Bullshit, of course, but look at him go.

So with one hand resting on the side of the car, pretending to have to support himself against it, he reaches out with one hand to Joseph before he can come too close.]

Stop, Joseph! ...your grandson will stop at nothing to kill me. If you get in the way, he might hurt you too.

[Nailed it.]

[What the fuck? There's no reason that this should be so easy. Avdol had described Dio's power as immense, but this...

Star Platinum drops down into a fighting stance.] Get up, you coward! I'm not through with--

[A voice. A voice he knows. It's his grandfather, and his grandfather is... running to Dio's side?

What the literal fuck? Jotaro takes a step backward in surprise, his eyes widening.] Don't go near him, old man! He's dangerous!

[Dio's words stop him for a few seconds, but fail to prevent him from getting involved, as per Dio's plan.

Joseph knows Jotaro wouldn't hurt him, really. He doesn't know the other too well, but he knows that much, from just... Pure family bond, maybe. Jotaro has a temper- much like Joseph has himself, but...

But even if he does have a temper, that doesn't mean Joseph can let him get away with hurting Dio, when the other has done nothing but help him.

Stepping between the two Stand users, Joseph faces Jotaro and narrows his eyes.]

It doesn't look like he's that dangerous now, does it?

[Seriously. He's bleeding all over and can't even stand upright. Looks pretty clear cut to Joseph.]

He might be a total weakling, but you still can't go around punching people like this!

[Of course, since Joseph is standing in between the pair and has his back to Dio, Dio looks past Joseph and right at Jotaro, flashing him a particularly arrogant smile.

Everything here was a set up. Where they met, the amount of time he'd wasted taunting Jotaro...everything was planned carefully so Joseph would arrive after Jotaro already started attacking. Even before now, helping Joseph...it was all towards this end.

Victory without even lifting a finger. This is what he meant.]

No, Joseph...your Grandson has every right to be angry with me.

[That smile gone, he's back to victim mode. Oh the pain, the pain of it all. Look at him, he's so pathetic and injured.

He leans against the car, standing up fully.]

After everything I've done to your family, you Joestars...I wouldn't expect him to forgive me. It would be unreasonable for me to expect you to, either.

[Jotaro sees that look in Dio's eyes, that look of victory, and instantly understands. This is Dio's plan.

Jotaro puts his hand on Joseph's shoulder, trying to push him to the side.] He's playing weak!

Out of the way, old man; I'll finish this right here.

["Everything he's done to the Joestars"... So Joseph's hunch was right. This is the same Dio that killed his grandfather. The same one that Straizo spoke of, and assumed he was stronger than. Well, maybe Strazio was right. And if Joseph could beat the former Hamon master turned vampire, that means Dio was in fact at the bottom of the chain here. Hardly a threat, power wise.

Although talking to Dio about his past with his grandfather is something he wants to do, that will have to take backseat for now. He's got Jotaro to deal with for the moment.

Joseph places a hand on Jotaro's wrist, pulling the other's hand off his shoulder with a bit of unnecessary force. But hey, he's kind of pissed. ]

You're not finishing shit.

[This is going to turn into a fight, he can tell. He hasn't forgotten about Jotaro's Stand either. But how the he'll can he beat something he can't hit?]

[Oh, this is too good. Are they really going to fight over him? He hadn't expected something like that, but if it does go down, all the better. He'd love nothing more than to watch these two go at it.

So he doesn't say anything, he just decides to stand aside for now. Go on you two, sort this out amongst yourselves. He'll be over here watching and enjoying every minute of it.]

[Jotaro's eyes go wide as Joseph tugs his hand off his shoulder with a little more force than is necessary. How the hell can his grandfather be defending this vampire? The one who was responsible for Holly's condition?

Jotaro tugs his hand back sharply, wrenching it free from Joseph's grasp, and reaches up to adjust the brim of his cap.] I'm telling you again.

Either help me or get out of my way.

[Except no one told him Dio was the one responsible for his daughter's illness. Or that Dio stole Jonathan's body. He's pretty out of the loop, and already has a tendency towards Bad Decision Making.]

You can tell me a hundred times.

[Joseph rolls his arm in it's socket, and cracks his knuckles. It's a little difficult to adopt a fighting stance with such little space to move his feet, but he does what he can with the space he has.]

I'm not moving.

You're gonna move. [Is his grandfather really getting in his face over Dio?] I don't want to hurt you.
