gigue: (Bach – Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor)

[What makes a family? She's wondered that a lot of the past fifteen or so years. Hell, if there' sno answer on that front, then what breaks a family? The loss of a brother? Two brothers? A tell-all, shit show of a book?

Trying to kill them? Ending the world?

Vanya drops her sandwich to the counter, and moves around Klaus to grab the whiskey bottle again, filling her glass and taking a drink that's long enough to make her lungs burn the way her throat does. Fuck it. What does it matter? They keep - they keep trying, and she doesn't understand how they can stomach it. Allison wanting to get drinks, Diego wants lunch, Ben has a whole life she has to learn about, so does Five and both of them missed her, and now Klaus acting like that's normal, like there is a normal for her.

(And Luther texted her, she's still not okay with that even a little bit, how dare he even say one word to her--

But she tried to kill him, too.)

The panic mutes under the whiskey. Vanya's not a big drinker, but she's willing to make the effort. Her heart is still pounding, but the heat from the drink is making it easier to breathe. Okay. It's okay. She can do this.]

Um.

[The problem is, she doesn't know what to say. Her shoulders are curved forward, and she's back to picking at the hem of her sleeves just to have something to do with her hands.]

I don't - [More like I can't handle this, but she doesn't want to admit that in her outloud voice.] I don't remember, so it's...

I mean I didn't - you're the one who's messed up, so...[She doesn't mean it as an insult, but picking the right words is a regular fucking struggle for her.]
