There's a vague possibility my father sought out a god when I was too young to remember things and earned the boon for me, but the probability is low. He was training me to lead people, not animals, and I think that if he were going to seek out a god to place a gift on his bloodline he would have chosen the ability to read humans, or something martial.

Most abilities like this are given by a god at some point in the bloodline, but sometimes - rarely, exceedingly rarely - they can show up on their own. [ There's a bit of a wry smile. ] My life has proven to be a series of very unlikely events, so I just add that to the list of statistically-improbable things that I have going on.

As for spell, nope. Technically it's always on, but I learned a long time ago how to just not reach out to all the animals around me, because that's exhausting.
