The state of affairs in Luke's time is a curious one. With only two Sith and no Jedi, the words of the Sith prophecy may yet be fulfilled in a way no one in his time could have foreseen.

"My knowledge of Jedi training methods is not as thorough as my knowledge of the Sith, but I will share both with you, if that is what you desire." The younger Skywalker may be his only viable option for finding someone capable of battle meditation or initiating a Force meld with more than one person.
