[Martin exhales and visibly relaxes when his pick proves to be enough to satisfy. navigating little things like this...he's getting experience with it, but each time seems to be with a completely different person. it makes things so unpredictable in ways -- so many what-ifs and worries about what is good or bad in the face of whomever it is he's with!
granted, most of those are things he worries about alone and aren't actually real problems for anyone outside of himself, but still. that's anxiety for ya.
it's why when orders are up, he's momentarily distressed when he realizes he ordered a little bowl of something and hers is a drink. tea, obviously. she said that! he should've let her pick first and just said that. there's probably nothing wrong with picking a food instead of a drink but...but it feels wrong. weird. stupid??
whatever the real case is, it means he's gawking at her with minor distress upon sitting down and observing her and her drink, watching to see if he's at all actually bothered by his imaginary misstep. she seems really nice, but...what if he pushes his luck????]
