WHO: Armitage Hux, K2-SO, Poe Dameron
WHERE: De Chima, an abandoned area
WHEN: late October 31st
WHAT: K2 and Poe attempt to take care of Hux once and for all.
WARNINGS: Fire, death, mentions of burying alive, etc
He stifled a yawn as he checked his phone, replying to a couple messages as he tucked his work keys into a pocket of his coat. It was nice that it had gotten colder recently, the hot weather had made him irritable more than usual.
But it was a cool, clear night, he paused to look up at the stars as he tucked his phone away. He could get a taxi home but he had found that he preferred the walk. It was a moment of quiet to himself when he could gather his thoughts.
He wasn't paying attention as he passed down a quiet street, passing through a deserted area before two empty buildings as he pulled on his gloves. While he was aware of where he was, his mind was more on what he wanted for dinner than anything else at the moment. He didn't buy into the local holiday stories and if anything happened, he was more than capable of defending himself.

Bodhi didn't have a chance to defend himself either. That's what Kay is thinking, as he waits for Hux to pass the corner of the building he's waiting behind, the edge of the wall right along the sidewalk Hux is on. It was extremely satisfying to swing out his arm, pick Hux up by the front of his shirt, and slam him down into the sidewalk beneath them. Unlike with Jyn on Wobani, who he didn't want concussed, Kay uses enough force that he hopes Hux just goes immediately unconscious.

"I'll wake him up," Poe said, grimly. There were no grins, tonight. Which was probably for the best - he was still in his Halloween costume from earlier that night : a black three piece suit, with white gloves, and - well. His face was painted so that the lower half was the grin visage of a skeleton. The suit - not obvious to the outside - was made entirely of anti-flammable material. He wasn't stupid.
He stepped forward and gave Hux a hard slap, before stepping back and pulling out the enchanted gun that he had purchased a few days before.

He was quiet as he quickly tried to take in where he was and what was going on. He was sitting in a chair, chained but his hands were free. That wasn't reassuring, it meant that there was something more planned. He looked up to see Poe Dameron and that damn droid standing there, the pilot aiming a gun at him.
He could burn them, his hands clenching into fists. But there was something going on, if they had left his hands free it meant that no doubt that Dameron had something planned.
"So is this the part where you kill me?" he asked- he refused to show fear. He wouldn't give them the satisfaction.

"I would like to say yes, but I'm not the one who has a few words for you first." It's a little disappointing Hux doesn't look afraid. He's well trained, he'll give him that much. But he might show signs if Poe lets him in know the extent of their plan. Which he presumes he'll do at some point.

He paused, tilting his head, considering. "Well. Actually. We can do the chat second. First--"
And before he continued the sentence, he pulled the trigger. The shot echoed through the abandoned building, the bullet slamming through Hux's foot, and where it penetrated the magic instantly began - ice shooting up from the wound, up Hux's legs and chest, the crystals slowing as they got to Hux's throat. There. That should hurt like a bitch and a half, and keep him from squirming.
"I wanted to give you a taste." He took a deep breath. "There. I think that should outline the seriousness of our conversation. I bet you think that we're here to even the score, and then you get to wake up in a few days like nothing happened. And while that's a lovely fiction, I am going to make something very clear to you."
He didn't blink as he glared Hux down.
"I am taking you out. For good. No matter how many times you regenerate. You'll wish you'd died permanently the first time."

He bit his lip hard to keep from making any noise, breathing hard as he made himself look at Kay and Poe with eyes darkened by pain.
"And how will you do that?" His heart was beating fast, he wouldn't let this happen. He had always been determined to survive at any costs, this would be no different. "You're going to have to keep killing me and I don't think you're capable of that."
no subject
"But that also isn't what we're going to do. It would be a waste of time for us to visit your body every few days and ensure you continue to die." Not to mention it would be more suspicious, and would require keeping Hux somewhere they could see him.
Kay's photoreceptors bore into Hux's eyes, waiting for the moment he sees fear.
"We're going to bury you in the ground. Very deeply. I assume every time you revive, you'll immediately begin to choke on dirt until you die again."
no subject
"You're assuming I'll let you," he eventually said, trying to keep his voice strong as he tried to think of a way out of this. He could melt the ice. Burn the pilot. He had never used his technology manipulation on anything as big as Kay but he would have to now. He only hoped it would work.
It had to.

That this might put an end to the war - at least here - once and for all.
So it was with a grim relief that he raised the gun, this time aiming for Hux's heart.
"Not going to give you a choice." He didn't pull the trigger, though, just watched him on the other end of the barrel. It wasn't like in his cockpit, where he couldn't see their face.
But then, this is the one face he'd wanted dead the most for a long time.
"Say goodbye to the war, General. It's over."

With fear comes desperation, and desperate attempts. There's a chance that Hux will put up a struggle at the last moment, to make Poe's bullet miss. He's chained to the chair, but the chair could be broken in a few ways... Unless Kay holds him still. Even though the ice is already up to Hux's neck, Kay takes a step closer and places his hand on Hux's shoulder to keep him there. Even if he activated his fire powers, he wouldn't be able to burn through his plating.
As he had said to Poe- they only have one shot at this.

He only had one shot at this.
As soon as he felt Kay's hands on his shoulders, he channeled all his power to his hands, needing to quickly melt the ice. At least, enough to free his arms and allow him to break free. Even with the chains, he was able to reach up, putting a hand on Kay's arm as he looked up at the droid.
"I told you if you touched me I would destroy you. You're not going back to your friends," he snarled as he activated his power. It was hard to focus, all his mind could think was to order the machinery inside of Kay to shut down, putting all his will behind it and hoping it worked.

Auxiliary systems are going offline, one by one, but also very quickly. Basic motor control begins shutting down next. He can't actually move his hands, right now. That's not good.
Kay looks up from his hands, from Hux's face, to look at Poe.
"Poe, I am-"
His photoreceptors flicker and with them, his visual feed. Kay's head tilts downward, outside of his control. He doesn't even have time to reroute his functions as quickly as he'd like, since this isn't like being shot. When he was shot, there were affected areas, unaffected areas, and he could navigate around the affected ones. This is all simultaneous, and there's no places that seem like they'll be unaffected. Rerouting would be a waste of time.
"Shutting-"
Yes, definitely losing main system power now. He should be fine after he's plugged back into his charging station, and it seems like nothing being done to his systems is permanent, just being turned off...
"Down..."
...
What was he saying?
He can't see, that's odd. Why are his photoreceptors off? Was he speaking to someone? Why is he going offline?
Oh well.
Kaytu powers down, standing behind Hux like an empty golem, and then falls backward.

The gun fires, but not in time. The bullet hits Hux in the shoulder with enough force to topple the chair, but not enough time to save Kay. They both crash to the ground almost at the same moment.
Poe's already running for Kay, not bothering to see if Hux is actually dead. If he's not, he will be soon, and he needed to get to Kay now.
"No no no- come on buddy, don't shut down, come back online--" Unlike Hux, his plea doesn't require touch, or even real thought, but he's putting both into it. He's never dealt with something being offline before, because his technopathy works with things that don't have power in the first place. He is stringing a litany of curses together as he pulls Kay back upright.
"Come on buddy, wake up--"

The force of the bullet knocked him back, causing him to fall from the chair still tangled in the chain. Pain radiated from his shoulder, for a moment he couldn't breathe as he watched Poe rush over to Kay.
His vision was starting to fade, if he died he knew what could happen. He had to make sure Poe couldn't get to him. He reached out, summoning the last of his strength into the fire he set, making sure it surrounded him. If Poe wanted to get to him, he was going to get burned in the process.
"It's nothing less than he deserved," he spat out, watching them. "I will take everything from you, Poe Dameron."

But nothing he did was working, and he could feel the heat rising at his back. Finally he stood, the sweat starting to make the facepaint run, as if his skin was dripping into the bones below.
He had never felt so angry in his entire life, as the building was quickly catching fire. Hux's inhuman flames apparently spread faster than normal, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He'd failed. He'd failed Kay, and he'd failed everyone else, and he was so angry that he couldn't keep the snarl from his face.
He raised the gun, silently, and shot Armitage Hux right between the eyes.
