Arcanine - Fetch

[Arcanine, as the most fairly normal Pokémon in Blue's team to most natives, tended to be the one that stayed out of his ball and trotted around with Blue when he was out and about. Whether it was walking the dogs Blue trained for work, or just out on the streets enjoying the weather, the enormous, 6' tiger-dog was a common sight. He'd attracted admirers with his visibility too, who would feed him treats when he came by their most traveled areas.]

[Today he's running about one of the larger open park areas in [your Porter city], carrying a tree branch in his mouth that must be a good 6" thick. Well, when your mouth was that big, you needed to carry a big stick. As soon as he catches your scent, he bounds up to you excitedly, trying to bark through his mouthful, and drops the log at your feet.]

[It's an enormous task, are you up to it? Will you be the one that can throw the stick?]

Pidgeot - Thief!

[No matter where you're walking, in any city, you might feel a strange sensation like you're being watched. Surely there's no one else suspicious around though, right?]

[...That is, until a shadow passes in the sky overhead of you, and then with a mighty flap, a gigantic, 5' tall bird swoops down, plucking something from your person and sweeping cleanly back up into the sky with it! Whether it be a hat, your lunch, or even... your pet dog?? Whatever it was that was stolen, it's now clenched within the bird's beak or enormous talons. You better go chase after it if you want it back...]

Exeggutor - Berry Master

[Have you ever met a sentient tree before? Well, whether you have or not, there is a 6', legged palm tree stomping its way awkwardly over to you. It chatters amongst its 3 heads and then, with some strange Psychic power, teleports a strange fruit into your hands or onto the ground in front of you.]

[It nods, bobbling its coconut heads again at you. Is that for you? Sure seems like it- and it seems happy to be presenting you with this little gift. Maybe it wants to be friends?]

[archie has most definitely met exeggutor before; several times, in fact. meeting it again in such a context isn't unexpected, but welcome none the less.]

[he bends down to pick up the berry off the ground, then pads over to eggy to give it a pat on the... middle head?]

Egg egg! [The Grass-type was overjoyed to find Archie on his little park adventure, sensing him nearby and wandering over to say hello. Of course, he would have to give his friend a berry to celebrate the occasion!]

[The Cheri berry he gave to Archie was one of Crobat's favorites, one the bat Pokémon helped him to plant. The 3 heads coo between themselves, bashful at Archie's praise. Their leaves shake cheerfully as Archie pats them and he telepathically transmits to Archie the impression of Crobat to get the idea across. Give him the fruits of his labors, Archie!]

Pidgeot!!

[ Yusuke's Constellation dealings have made him a bit...paranoid, sometimes. He, at the very least, is sensitive to being watched, so he can feel the eyes on him, enough to glance around, but doesn't think to look up to the sky. Or to suspect the giant bird swooping down on him of any wrongdoing, until it catches the keyring on his hip and makes off with it.

Maybe the bird knows what stockpiles of weapons and expensive brush sets those keys are for. Maybe it just likes shiny things. One thing is for sure though, it chose the wrong thief to steal from.

In addition to his Persona and the Skill cards, the Porter saw fit to enhance Yusuke's speed and agility. His newest ability has served him well, and it will again today, as he takes off at a full speedster sprint, more shocked at being bested at all than he is by the fact that it was by a bird roughly the size of a person. He doesn't let it get far before he leaps after it, catching it by the red feathers of its tail. ]

Excuse me! You are not as clever as you think, give that back!

[ Even dangling in the air, he talks to it like he would talk to a naughty child, who can understand what he's saying. Which it...may or may not, but he had a talking cat for a teammate at one point, so it wouldn't be unheard of. ]

Piyo? [The bird glances back as it's soaring away with this shiny trinket, certainly not expecting any human to be capable of catching up to it. But lo and behold, there's a human reaching out to grab at it, and it only has that split second warning before Yusuke's hands are grabbing onto Pidgeot's tail feathers, the bird Pokémon letting out a sharp falcon-like cry as it suddenly swerves like mad in an attempt to shake Yusuke off.]

PIIYOOO! PIIIYOOO!!! [Pidgeot cries in distress, being weighted down by the human dangling off of him; it's no good! He'll just have to crash-land this human off of him. He spots a tree up ahead and tries to drag-smack Yusuke right into it in an attempt to lose him, the keys still clutched in his beak. His prize, now!]

[D33 has met Arcanine a few times now - once over the network, once at his initial Swear-In, and then there was that afternoon he spent with Blue learning all about dogs and the Pokédex (it's a little weird that he hasn't seen or heard from him since, considering the fact that Blue has a mouth that could rival Arcanine's, but D33 isn't really one to question that sort of thing - that is to say, he doesn't care). So, unlike some, it doesn't exactly shock D33 to see the large animal bounding toward him - he knows Arcanine's temperament by now - but it does startle him a bit and he takes a reflexive step backward as the stick is dropped at his feet. He glances down at it, brow wrinkling, then looks back to the dog and, despite having only lectured someone on talking to animals a few brief days ago, says:]

Is there something that you would like me to do with this?

Rrr... [Arcanine whines a little at D33's confused reply, cocking his head before leaning down to nudge the branch at him a little more. Come on, D33, don't you get it?? Arcanine's never met a human that didn't know what to do with the stick before.]

[Well, it doesn't seem like he's quite getting it. How else to demonstrate? The dog picks the stick back up, takes a few steps back, and then flips into the air- surprisingly flexible and athletic for such a large and big-boned creature- and flips the stick several yards away. Lands, then goes trotting after it, picks it back up, and returns to deposit it at D33's feet.]

[Nudge, nudge. Wag. Now do you get it, D33?]

[ It's like the bird took his insult as a challenge. As soon as he sees the tree in front of him, Yusuke swings his weight around as roughly as he can to force the creature off course and slow it down. The familiar blue flame is already bursting around him, morphing his clothes into a disguise and bringing his Persona, Goemon sprinting in front of them, just fast enough to cleave the tree in half before he's thrown against it. ]

Drop my keys, before you get hurt, beast.

[ As firm and straightforward as ever, he is. One hand starts reaching further up the Pokemon's body, if he can climb up the length of him without being thrown off, maybe he can be tamed?

If not, there's always the nuclear option, or more accurately, nuclear winter option. ]

THE BEST EGG

[he flinches slightly at the telepathic communication, but he makes an effort not to show his dislike for it, not wanting to upset the good egg.]

Ah, this is for Crobat, huh? [he obliges, releasing the bat. it materialises on the ground - it's the day, so crobat was asleep - but it doesn't seem too bothered. especially now that it gets to see its bro!!! crobat chips and hops up, smiling and chittering at exeggutor.

archie'll give them a moment to catch up.]

Egg... [You can't really hide much from Psychics, Archie- Exeggutor looks a little apologetic at his mental flinch, sensing that he didn't like it. He won't do it again, Archie! You're certainly not the first one to dislike Psychic contact, after all.]

Egg! Exegg egg! [But the idea gets across and the tree Pokemon nods happily, glancing down to Crobat once Archie releases him. Look, friend! You helped grow this berry! The Pokemon chatter between themselves about the berry crop, that is until Exeggutor coos again and Teleports another berry in front of Archie- this one was a sleek yellow Wacan berry, brimming with energy.]

Exeeeegg. [Blue asked him to deliver this one! He heard about your dislike of Electric types and, well... Let's just say he has a little problem with one of his own. Use it wisely, Archie!]

[it's fine he would NEVER BLAME EGGY FOR ANYTHING how could he, look at this beautiful tree chatting happily with crobat. it's so good. he loves it so much. crobat seems overjoyed at the berry crob and bites off half of the berry, holding the other hand out for exeggutor. share?]

Oh! You're the one Blue gets all his strategies from, huh?

[Exeggutor smiles at Crobat, politely declining the berry. No thank you, friend; he doesn't like Spicy berries. In fact, most of Blue's Pokemon do, so he has a nice big crop of Dry berries all to his own. He tells him all about his personal little patch until Archie catches his attention again.]

[Don't be so silly, Archie; Blue raised him from an Exeggcute! Blue studied up on berry strategies; Exeggutor just taught him how to grow them properly. He bobbles happily, thinking of the first berries he grew for Blue to use in battle when they went journeying to Kalos. Look at these happy memories, Archie!]

[crobat shrugs and finishes off the berry itself. it offered! it chatters in delight at eggy having its own patch. it asks if maybe they can make a patch where its trainer lives!! so many berries!!!!!!

...archie gets the happy psychic thing, he really does, but after clone charles feeling another presence in his mind (why does he even have to be upset about that, this fucking world) and yelps, falling backwards and kicking up some dirt as he scrabbles his butt back.

crobat hops over to him, ears pricked and chittering in alarm. what did you do eggy????]

[A challenge is right- Pidgeot struggles as Yusuke swings his weight around, trying to throw him off. That yanking on his tailfeathers hurt, and he was sure going to get this human back for it!]

[What Pidgeot doesn't expect at all is the appearance of the Persona-- was that... another Pokémon? The bird appears to try to cry out to it, perhaps a threat, perhaps a warning or attempt to reason, but whatever it is quickly is discarded in favor of a swift dive with a beat of its mighty wings as it dodges the cleaving of the tree.]

[Okay; now he's pissed. The bird turns with a gleam in his eye to glare at Yusuke and Goemon, feeling the boy trying to climb up onto his back. No, you're not his trainer, Yusuke; you don't get that privilege. The bird begins to glow with energy as it soars up, then speeds back downward at an incredible speed, rolling and diving in an attempt to throw Yusuke off with a Sky Attack.

Eeegg! [That's a great idea, Crobat! Of course Exeggutor can teach you and Archie everything you need to start growing your berries. Just make sure that Muk doesn't get into the patch, because that poison will ruin the soil.]

[Eggy really didn't mean to telepathy to Archie again, he just sort of thought his things and Archie was, well, within the broadcast range. He gets a shock from Archie's reaction- he can feel his bad memories bubbling up in response, and sadly chatters amongst his heads as Archie yelps into the dirt.] Egg! Egg eeegg... [He's sorry, pirate man!!]

[ Goemon does not acknowledge Pidgeot as anything other than a threat, unfortunately for the bird, the legendary samurai is an extension of Yusuke in every way. Any appeal to reason will be in vain, as long as the creature is a threat to him. Dive bombing towards the concrete certainly qualifies, but it isn't until they are dangerously close to the ground that Fox lets go, rolling into a landing that is not his most graceful.

He's back on his feet in seconds, clenching his fists as one rises up to rip off his mask. There's a horrible tearing sound of skin being scraped from flesh, and all the dripping blood that comes with it, before the mask rematerializes out of nowhere. Goemon leaps forward, sending sharp blades of ice hurling towards the thief. ]

[honestly? his first instinct is to yell at eggy and tell it to get a handle on its powers, but he doesn't. archie would saw off his own legs before he yells at the good peaceful tree; he also immediately tries to repress the thought so eggy doesn't read his mind and see it.

with a sad sigh, archie gets his shit together and pulls himself up to give eggy a hug. crobat rolls its eyes.]

[d33tached]

[What in the world is this animal doing? Showing him some sort of trick. The man frowns as the stick is dropped back at his feet again, cocking a brow as he looks between Arcanine and the branch on the ground. He tentatively leans over, picks it up, continues staring at the dog.]

Am I supposed to throw this for you? [How ridiculous. Also, why am I still talking to a dog?]

Ark! Ark!! [Arcanine bounces happily in place- yes, you got it, D33! Throw the stick. His butt waggles as he readies a pouncing pose, tail wagging furiously in all its bushy glory and tongue lolling out happily.]

[Come on, do it!] Ark ark ark!!

[halloflamer]

Eeeegg... [Even if he couldn't tell, Exeggutor feels awfully bad for causing the reaction anyway- he turns to Crobat to ask what was wrong, if he did something bad- maybe Archie didn't have a good history with Psychic type Pokémon? After all, Archie had Poison and Dark types... (Sorry about that by the way, Cro)]

[In any case, after Archie gets his shit together, Exeggutor's heads bobble their sorries to Archie. Here, have another berry as an apology!]

[Well. Given how absurdly excited the creature appears to be (also given that it can breathe fire and D33 doesn't really want to get on its bad side), the man decides to given in, extending his arm back with the stick and then tossing it a few yards a way - it's a pretty impressive throw, actually.]

AAAAARRRRRR!

[Well, that impressive throw is followed after by an equally impressive and majestic leap across the field, the enormous dog following after the stick with a single powerful, spry bound across the field. It's amazing how fast Arcanine can move considering its size, and it snatches the branch out of mid-air, landing with a solid THUMP into the grass before prancing back to D33 with a proud expression and depositing the stick back at his feet again.]

[Aaaand repeat.]

[crobat doesn't give the full story-- just implies that archie has, indeed, had some really bad experiences with psychic beings. painful, in fact.]

Egg-- It's okay, ya don't gotta apologise. We're good, you're good.

[Exeggutor still seems pretty sad for Archie, and would pat-pat him if he had arms. But he doesn't, so the berries will have to do. Here, have another! And maybe one more.]

[Well, at least Crobat will have snacks.] Egg eggg? [Is he ...okay now, Crobat?]

[Finally, he's gotten that pesky human off his back. Pidgeot gives a triumphant cry, the keys clenched in his talons now as he aims to fly off with them. But now he's trapped with the Persona leaping at him from another side, the bird trying to dodge the incoming strike.]

[The Ice Shard attack- or what looks like it- hits the birds wings with a cry, mightily beating them in an attempt to shake off the frozen crystals so that they wouldn't weigh down his wings. Something about that particular attack seems to have only angered Pidgeot more, and this time its wings begin to glow with energy that has his feathers glinting like metal as he takes another swift dive towards Goemon, this time aiming to strike his Steel Wing against the Persona. To the bird's logic as a Pokémon, this should be a clearly effective attack.] PIYOOOO!

[Judging by the expression on D33's face, it really is amazing how fast Arcanine can move given its size - or, just in general, even. His eyes are wide by the time the dog has returned for another throw, and there might even be the tiniest hint of a smile on his face.

[Alright, alright. He gives the stick another powerful toss, this time throwing it as far as he can to see how quickly the dog will catch up to it.]
