Riptide's scanners tell him where the humans around him are. He can see where the ones Manabu is trying to save are, he can see Manabu. He can see Manabu is hurt, because his outline on his scanner is flashing, indicating that something has happened to him to cause a big change in his body temperature, his heart rate going mad.

He hates having to fight. He hates that it always comes back to his friends being in danger and dying, no matter how hard they try to avoid it. Riptide doens't care as much about the civilians as he does Manabu. He tries not to lose himself in flashbacks to Decepticons picking up his team and ripping them apart in front of him, instead focusing on saving Manabu.

Riptide cups his hand over Manabu again, stopping the arms from getting to him and grabs the third Walking Eye in his other fist.

Manabu will hear him growl, "I hope you feel pain."
