Shortly after Yuuri's arrival

[It's nearing late afternoon when Yuri actually makes it home, and he's trying to go unnoticed when he creeps in the front door. He's still not at all sure what to think of Yuuri not remembering him. The idea of facing him yet puts a knot in his stomach and a strange tightness in his throat. Yuri can't decide if he's more upset or annoyed by the feeling—maybe some strange combination of the two?

It's just that it's so...disconcerting to think of how much Yuuri won't remember now. Nothing of the close calls with death he'd had, or the promise to protect him Yuuri had made. Nothing about the ways their uncertain bond had strengthened over the months that he'd been here. It was like none of it had ever happened now, and it left an ache somewhere deep in his chest.

Which is why he is trying his goddamn best to be as quiet as possible when he eases the door shut and sneaks towards the stairs so he can get up to his room.]

July 10th - Majority Report - Yuuri

[Yuri had begun yelling almost as soon as the report went up. It's more or less business as usual until near the end of the argument when a genuine edge of rage and menace creeps into his tone. He can't stand this man, and it's easy for anyone listening to him to hear it in the cutting iciness of his tone.

It's the very end that's impossible to ignore though. Yuri can feel the rage building like pressure behind his eyes and flames at his temples. It sounds like another lecture about how great Adachi really is. How he's trying, so Yuri needs to just get over the twisting rage and hurt that still sits heavy in his gut and leaves him feeling ill if he thinks too long about what the man's done. As if it doesn't matter how he feels—and really, has it ever? It doesn't feel like it has. Adachi and Viktor are still friends. They've always been friends through everything he's been through as a result of Adachi's actions, past or present.

And Yuri? He still can't shake the feeling that he's an overreacting kid. He hadn't thought he was before, but...why else would Viktor be able to shake off everything Adachi had done so easily? Even Yuuri had been willing to accept him before. Would it be the same now? Was it all just going to repeat itself? Was anything he said or did ever going to matter?

He can practically feel the moment he snaps. His arm certainly snaps, flinging his phone violently across his room and shattering one of his framed pictures along with the phone itself. He doesn't linger in the room for anyone to find him, instead hurrying out to—to... Just to get away. Assuming he doesn't run into anyone along the way, of course.]

[ Then it's fantastic timing that Viktor is coming out of the kitchen just then. ]

Ah, welcome back.

[Yuri freezes at the base of the stairs, shoulders hunched and looking anywhere but at Viktor.]

Hey.

[fourlevels]

[ He comes out of the kitchen fully and into the living room, carrying something in his hand which Yuri won't quite be able to tell in his periphery. ]

... Did it go alright?

[beautiful_monster]

[He glances up in a moment of confusion, turning the question over in his mind before he remembers suddenly and blushes, though whether it's out of shame for forgetting or fondness over whatever he's recalling is hard to tell.]

It went fine.

Just fine, huh? ... Was it overshadowed?

[He frowns sharply.]

What the hell do you think?

Ah, sorry ... Once the shock of his return wore off, I thought about texting you, but I didn't want to disturb your date.

[There's a long moment where his scowl holds, and then it just...melts away into a very tired look. He sighs and crosses his arms in a sullen pose. It really wasn't Viktor's fault this time. He couldnt' be mad at him for being too distracted with his fiance's return to think of texting him earlier, and it was a pretty fair thought to not want to disturb the date...]

It's fine. I just—... I didn't think he'd show up as soon as I left.

I was sleeping when it happened. Talk about being shocked awake!

[ He remembers just then that he was carrying something from the kitchen, mainly because his fingertips were cold now from holding the ice cream carton so long. He holds it up to show Yuri. ]

Would you like some? I can get another spoon if you want to share.

[beautiful_monster]

[He gives the ice cream a long look before shaking his head. It was a nice gesture, but he's still too rattled from Yuuri's sudden return, along with the laundry list of other ups and downs he's been through in the last few days alone.]

Thanks, but maybe later. I don't really feel like eating anything right now.

What good is talking about it going to do?

It doesn't necessarily have to be about ... [ Vague hand gesture. ] ... this. It can be about anything you want.

[Yuri looks away again and chews on his lip in thought. What else was there to talk about? The date? Yusuke? He didn't really want to tangle thoughts about them up in his dour feelings right now...]

...Have you been thinking about any new skate programs lately?

[fourlevels]

[ Skating was always a safe topic. Viktor moves to the couch to each his ice cream, leaving plenty of room for Yuri to join him. ]

Just thinking of ways to improve the one I did at Fanport, but I need the music edited before any solid plans. Nothing new beyond that lately.

[ Says the person who was always jotting down ideas in a notebook when not on the ice before. ]

[Was being the key word. Yuri follows after him and sits heavily on the couch, slumping back into the cushions with a dull sigh.]

I don't think I want to use the one I performed at Fanport again. It was a little too... [He frowns mildly and shrugs. Too personal, too painful? He wasn't sure, to be honest. He only knew he didn't really want to repeat it.]

[ Yuuri's alone when he sees the report.

It's an accident, really. Much like everything else he seems to have stumbled over through all the social media this place offers, it's not the most conducive to any of the tumultuous feelings already bearing down on him, and by the time he's followed all the links, read and watched and choked on whatever protests manage to escape, he's walked himself into a daze around the house, his thumb glued to the screen of his phone. It digs harder and harder into it, fingers clutching at something so he doesn't lose everything, but he's in too much of a daze to really notice that he's sort of stumbled his way right into Yurio's path on his way to... somewhere. They collide, and it causes his phone to go sliding across the floor, the video he'd been watching repeatedly starting up again from where he'd paused it. He's glad there's no sound because it makes him cringe even more than the horror that floods him at having slammed into Yuri in his beginning panic. ]

Yu–Yuri! Sorry. I'm... [ Freaking out, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to try to scramble to his feet and drag him up as well—all while trying to scoop up his phone and flee after everything has been set right. ] I'm sorry. Are you okay? [ He opens his mouth to say something else, but it sort of moves without words, vibrating with anxiety and a sharp flush across his face that shows just how distressed he is. ]

["Somewhere" must be a pretty great place if they were both going there.

Yurio, for once, doesn't look much better than Yuuri does. He's strangely tense as Yuuri helps him up, and his face is red with some intense emotion. Probably anger because, as everyone knows, it's definitely the only emotion Yurio is capable of feeling when not gloating or bullying people. In reality, even Yurio isn't sure what he's feeling. All he knows is that he can hear the blood rushing in his ears and his eyes feel like they're stinging; they look a little wet, in fact. He sucks in a harsh, startled breath when he sees who it is that's caught him.]

An— K-Katsudon! [It takes a moment to remember the name he should be calling him. Nothing too familiar. Nothing that's going to make Yuuri ask questions—he's not Aniki anymore.] I'm... [Yurio trails off, glancing down at Yuuri's phone and back up at his face. His mouth tightens into a thin, uncomfortable frown.]

Were you looking at that report too?

Way too much. I don't like the mood I have to be in for it.

What mood is that?

[He frowns uncomfortably and glances away, shoulders hunched. Did Viktor really expect him to talk about what a poor mood the last few weeks had left him in?]

It doesn't matter. I don't feel like it anymore.
