He'd offered Chilton honesty and instead the doctor had implied differently, as though Bruce had offered him a duplicitous wink and nudge with his explanation. He found that curious. He had, after all, only meant to clarify his position by allaying the fear that he might be doing all of this for the exact reasons Frederick Chilton admitted to finding "wise."
