Sabriel and Dooku

[Dooku raises an eyebrow, skeptical of such a bold claim.]

Absolutely everything, you say? How is that possible?

[There were Jedi who ascribed the same philosophy to the Force: a vast cosmic entity which touched all of existence, assigning purpose and destiny according to its own design. Dooku had never thought in such ways, even when he was a Jedi himself. The Force was an energy field which reacted to emotion and could be commanded by the wise and powerful- a form of material power, nothing more.]

Because that's it's nature. I certainly don't claim to comprehend all of it, but once you touch it, you understand how vast it is.

[Dooku can only shrug. Having trained Qui-Gon Jinn, he is more than familiar with such vague and sentimental answers to important questions, and knows well the futility of trying to test this belief further.]

Well, if nothing else, the power of the Charter is beyond question. Which reminds me: I never properly thanked you, Sabriel, for the assistance you provided me during the Soviet unpleasantness.

Ah that- unfortunately, that wasn't the first time people have tried to deal with imPorts through mind control, and it probably won't be the last. But as long as I'm here, I'll work to counteract it when it happens.

But tell me- how many other times have our enemies attempted to tamper with our minds? I understand the criminal Peter Pan did something similar in the month that I arrived.

Well, there was Pan, and the Hornets before him. They tried to overwrite imPort minds with copies of their own- and while they failed, they managed to make the affected imPorts incredibly violent.

[Dooku makes an 'hm' sound. He folds his hands behind his back and adopts a thoughtful air.]

I have heard something about the Hornets. Former 'heroes' who turned against the government- and against imPorts.

It is troubling that our minds are so often targeted by different foes. Might you tell me what other ways imPorts have found to defend against these attacks? I'm afraid that you might not always be there with your bells to set things right.

Telepathic imPorts have found ways to reverse the damage- although I'm not sure how many are in this world at the moment.
