JUNPEI

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-04-23 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Continued from HERE.]

Aw. Sounds like you should be working with baseball instead. This is the kinda place where someone like you playing with the big guys could totally happen, y'know?

[A dream or not, why not take advantage of what they've got? Junpei has to be athletic to keep up with with the rest of SEES, and he's sure the local team of big guys would love to at least have a single day with an imPort. It'd be win-win; Junpei would be able to play with a real, live American baseball team, and they'd get publicity for a day.

Hm... maybe he'll mention it to Ken whenever Junpei's birthday winds around. SEES arranges their own members' celebrations, and it'd sure beat Akihiko's. When Junpei implicitly accuses him of lying about not having a role model, he ducks his head a little, laughing.]

I never said that. It's just embarrassing. [He doesn't talk about his parents a lot. Sometimes he wishes he could, his own way of keeping them in his life while he's separated from them, but it doesn't seem fair to anyone else, like he's bragging about a life precious few get to have. But Junpei did bring it up, and Jaime never paid much attention to celebrities in the media. Superwho? Paolo Midwhatsit? Sure, he knew they were around, liked seeing them in the news, but it hadn't been hero worship.

Whenever he draws on what he wants to be, what he should be, he always goes back to the same guy he went to when he was a kid.]

It was, uh, my dad. [Still is, honestly. How many times has he paused in his newfound independence and wondered what his Dad would have to say about that?]

Yours is way more exciting. I shoulda stuck to the soccer players.
homerunning: (can't find my socks)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-04-24 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Ken's been trying to get me to work at the Middle School. Apparently their baseball coach just left and he's seeing it as some kinda...destiny. [Not that Junpei believes it TOO or anything. He may or may not have ran out to get that application the moment he heard about it.]

I think he just wants free lunch off the school grounds, but hey, I'm not gonna judge. I'd do the same thing.

[But the idea o playing in the big leagues with an actual American team? Talk about a dream situation...He won't even lie, he's dreamed about it before, only with Japan's very own major league team.

His mind drifts off to that for a second, getting lost in his own thoughts before he realizes that Jaime's still speaking. Thoughts cutting immediately short when Jaime says it's his dad he respects most.

In a way, he's morbidly curious. His own dad left a lot to be desired, and the only real fatherly figure they all had turned out to be a traitor. Mitsuru had her father, and he was the best influence the team could have--but...that was also cut short. It's not exactly jealousy that rises, but more wishful thought.]

Heh, well...guess it depends on how bad their jokes are, right?
khajidont: (Jaime - idek I'm running out of words)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-04-25 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well... they're pretty bad, but not as bad as the stories.

[He says, like he didn't eat them up as a kid, like he doesn't lean on them for strength even if he groans in his Dad's face whenever he brings them up again. Letting on how meaningful they are to him just isn't a cool thing to do!]

That's how Dads kind of are. You ever meet Will Graham? He's like, the Daddest Dad out there. He lives in plaid and puns. Sometimes he even combines the two.
homerunning: (already but no one knows why)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-04-25 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He totally gets it, Jaime. Men gotta be men and be strong and cool for their families!!!]

Will Graham? I feel like I've seen his name on the network. He looks...yeah, plaid.

[That seems to be a very American thing...whats up with that?]
khajidont: (Jaime - smirk)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-04-25 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. That's 'cause he's, like, the whitest guy ever.

[He pauses.]

He's the whitest guy ever that I'd describe that way in a nice way. Totally great guy.

[But he decks himself out in plaid, owns a bait shop and goes fishing for a hobby... yeah. He's super white.]
homerunning: (callin my bros)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-04-25 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[...

Okay, Junpei bursts out laughing at that. Because 'whitest guy ever' pretty much sums it up better than any description could. It's not malicious, at least. Like Jaime said, it was in a nice way.]

Lemme guess, he probably sells those cheesy t-shirts with things like "I woke up like this" on it!
khajidont: (Jaime - smirk)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-04-25 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, now Jaime's laughing too.] Yeah! Exactly that kind of stuff! His store's even got a pun for it's name: it's the Hook, Line and Tinker.

[Will is unbelievable. And Jaime loves the guy, he really does.]

I own a few of the shirts, y'know. They're great.

This guy doesn't even sound real. He sounds like those kinds of characters in a video game that you remember cause they've got a certain quirk.

[You mean like you, idiot?]
khajidont: (Default)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-04-26 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody sounds real if you describe them with, like, two things about them. I could do that with anyone.

[Including the rest of SEES. How weird is that?]
homerunning: (wear your hat right)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-04-29 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Guess you got me there, but...quiz time.

Do it with Ken.
khajidont: (Jaime - smirk)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-04 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm...

[Jaime closes his eyes, and holds up one finger, ready to list it off.]

Cute twelve-year old with the vocabulary and personality of a forty-year old, secretly likes cute things and candy, not-so-secretly loves the colour orange.
homerunning: (MLG Pro)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-05 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Man, it's like you're describing every detail about him!

I'd say you'd forgotten his love of eggs, but we're trying to be minimalist, aren't we?
khajidont: (Jaime - ohmigod we're married)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-05 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding me? That was the sparksnotes version!

[Look, buddy, he cannot just say one thing about his son.]

He totally sounds like some character when you put it like that! You know, take a character, make 'em cute, give them a quirk...
homerunning: (I called A through F)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-05 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[No one can, Jaime. He's finding out that your son/his bro leads a more complicated life than anything he could've ever cooked up for him.]

You call em quirks, I call them ...what's the word....tropes?
khajidont: (Jaime - sheepish)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-06 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
...what does that mean?

[Teach him, Junpei. Teach him how to be even more meta than before.]
homerunning: (What is even going on?)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-15 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Tropes? They're like...kinda like stereotypes.

You know, like 'Team dad' or 'ice queen'.
khajidont: (Jaime - sheepish)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-15 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... so which one are you?
homerunning: (Bah)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-18 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
....Dude, isn't it obvious?

"Comic Relief."
khajidont: (Jaime - idek I'm running out of words)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-18 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
What? C'mon, it's not like you start spouting off catchphrases all the time, or, like, wear a stupid hat. [He surveys Junpei.] I mean, you wear a hat, but it's not a stupid one.

[These are the parameters for being the comic relief, clearly!]

I think you're only a comic relief compared to the rest of your team. Minato's pretty funny too, though, he's just sneaky about it. And mean.
homerunning: (What is even going on?)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-24 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[As soon as Jaime starts rattling off that list, his hands go to his face, and then to his hat. Oh my god you're fulfilling his prophecy, Jaime. Stop stop st-]

Wait...you think it's pretty cool?

[He has to think about that for a moment.]

Minato's got the dry humor thing going, I think. It's why girls like him so much. And...guys too apparently.
khajidont: (Jaime - Mild)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-25 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, yeah, everyone thinks he's a heartthrob. It's weird, but eh, whatever works for him. And I dunno if I'd call your hat cool... it's just a baseball cap, right? It's just normal.

[Sorry, Junpei, but he's not going to compliment you just yet! Plus, that cap is about as generic as they come. He wouldn't think twice if he saw Junpei walking down the street back home either.]
homerunning: (callin my bros)

[personal profile] homerunning 2016-05-25 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Wow man, I almost wish you called it lame. Nothing worse than being 'normal'!!

And here I thought you could help a bro get recognized!!
khajidont: (Jaime - cut your hair young man)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-05-25 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
You kidding me? Never complain about the normal part, dude. Normal's great.

[Said by a guy who is, for the record, extremely happy whenever he can be normal, or even when he can pass as normal. He still thinks of himself as normal -- just with a really, really dangerous part-time job, and maybe some unusual companions kicking around in his head.]

You gotta embrace it. C'mon, if you really wanna get recognized, you can be the boy next door. That's totally a thing.

[The boy that you bring home to introduce to your parents... well, Junpei fits that definition better than anyone else in SEES.]
