Post Pull Point Plot (say that 3 times fast)

[ Spock has a a few errands to run in Heropa today, but noticeably not by the government housing area, sticking instead to the shopping areas. Talk about a perfect opportunity to run into someone you don't want to talk to ... ]

[overemotionally]

[Jim was out and about because being in his own room nowadays was just not happening. His sleep was messed up bigtime and he stayed up until all hours, his mind running too hard for him to catch up or turn it off to sleep. He absolutely refused to meditate.

And of course, the last person in this entire alternate reality and his own at least, was up ahead. A little knot that made him feel vaguely ill balled itself up tightly in his gut. He couldn't change directions now. He simply shoves his hands in his pockets, ducks his head slightly and walks right past.]

[overanalytically]

[ He glances up from the item he happened to be glancing down at when someone brushes past him. He sees the face and before he can think about doing otherwise, he calls out, ] Jim?

[overemotionally]

[He ignores Spock and continues on.]

[overanalytically]

[ Mentally berating himself for using the more familiar address, he switches to the more formal but more insistent, ] Lieutenant Kirk? [ as he turns to follow him. ]

[overemotionally]

[That gets him to mentally bristle a bit but still no signs of changing pace at all.]

[overanalytically]

[ He reaches out for Jim's arm, fingers curling in against his upper arm just above the crook of his elbow. ]

Lieutenant.

[overemotionally]

[He stiffens and automatically brings the same arm that's grabbed up and around to half-turn to Spock and attempt to break his grip from it. His glare is ice-cold and his voice low.]

Let go of me.

[overanalytically]

[ He drops his grip immediately, stopping mid-step to avoid being hit by that same arm. There's a short pause where they just stare at each other now that Jim's turned, Jim's glare to Spock's frown. ]

... You have not returned my communications.

[overemotionally]

Good observation.

[He shoves his hands in his pockets again and continues on his original trajectory.]

[overanalytically]

[ Spock takes that as cue to just walk beside him. ]

Why have you not returned them? If you wished to proceed with our scheduled sessions, then we would have missed four by this time.

[overemotionally]

Been busy.

[God Spock why are you doing this to him?]

[overanalytically]

Busy enough not to return a simple question?

[overemotionally]

Yes.

[overanalytically]

Then since we have happened upon one another, are you able to answer now? Do you wish to continue your telepathy sessions?

[overemotionally]

No, Spock, I don't.

[He hasn't looked at Spock yet, his tone clipped. He'd find some other way to control his powers. He'd heard of other names. God, why did he insist Spock teach him in the first place?]

[overanalytically]

[ He frowns harder. ]

May I inquire why?

[overemotionally]

The same reason I didn't reply to you: too busy.

[overanalytically]

[ Welp, he can't push back against that, he doesn't know Jim's schedule even if that wasn't an excuse. ]

There was also another matter I wished to discuss with you ...

[overemotionally]

[At that, he abruptly stops and whirls on Spock to face him down.]

Look, Spock, I don't know if this is a cultural barrier or what but this body language? [He motions to himself, up and down] In most humans, especially me, it means I don't want to discuss anything with you. Okay?

[overanalytically]

[ Spock has to take half a step back to avoid the ferocity of that turn and accidentally smack into him. There's a beat before he continues in the same tone, as if Jim hadn't just turned on him: ]

You were exhibiting the same behavior when we were called to Daystrom Institute, were you not?

[overemotionally]

[God, it figures he'd fuck up this badly with someone that was just as goddamned stubborn as he was. Speaking of Daystrom, he sighs, much more frustrated than that day, and turns to walk away once again.]

[overanalytically]

[ Spock is so very stubborn, stubborn enough to keep following him. ]

Do you recall the event that supposedly has yet to happen?

[overemotionally]

[A quick flick of his eyes sideways.]

[overanalytically]

I have spoken with others who experienced the odd displacement of age as we did, yet they can only vaguely recall memories of their time of differing ages. Is the same true for you as well?
