General Opening
He's possibly in the most foul mood he's been since arriving here. Which is saying something. While Hisoka can be a treachery, he's usually on the happy side. Being in a foul mood is rare for him, but in this case, not without good reason. He's just not used to dealing with emotional distress, the extent of what he is used to is usually just sour disappointment. But even that fixes itself quickly. This? This is different. And instead of being able to change it or help it out of his system, he knows he's to blame for it at all.
How annoying.
But instead of dwell on things he certainly doesn't want to, he'd rather fill his time, and he has a few ways in mind already. Some promises, and a new job that he's actually a little excited for, even with how rather mundane it would be. But it'd be a good way to keep occupied, if nothing else. And that wasn't all, he knew he had some people to call should he really wish to.
A - Heropa - Night Moves
Ah, dark, but then it's pretty late and a cloudy night. There's really no light to speak of with what of the moon is there, if it's there, covered by the clouds in the dark sky. Same with the stars. So all there really is are street lights and the occasional car. But it's not too busy either. Late night, the sort of time that holds a silence to it, even with the few cars still out. The people out on the street, it's hard to say why they're there, why you're there. Maybe you or they- maybe you got caught up at work, maybe you fell asleep at a friends for too long. Maybe you just wanted to be outside for a bit and your walk lasted longer than expected.
But you're there, and it's dark.
Not a lot further to walk, but you know you can cut through some alleys, and really they're not too dark with the street lights on either side. So you wait till you find one where no one's around because you're not an idiot- or maybe you just take the next one.
The alley's a lot darker once you step into it. And as you walk, you hear... more footsteps. A second set? Behind you- you know you do. But as soon as you're sure you hear them, they're suddenly gone. You can't hear them anymore, but you're sure they were there.
What do you do?
B - Heropa - Lucky Cat Café [Weekday mornings, except Friday]
Well, he took the job because this place is owned by Cass. That and he wanted to fill up some more of his time. He figured he could just quit if it really proved to not be amusing enough, but he didn't think the novelty would fade that quickly. So he might as well try? And if the novelty did start to fade well surely he could make his own fun for a while too.
But some days into the job and he's not as sure. First of all, the t-shirt he has to wear as part of the uniform is not his thing... It's a bit tight in the shoulders and chest and over all is just boring. At least with his suits he could be a bit more playful. And he's sure not going to wear that baseball cap, and doesn't, keeping his hair a bright pink but usually not slicking it back for this job. Well, the shirt's more comfortable compared to the suits for the casino- at least there's that.
Still it's definitely something to see Hisoka in such a place, well working there anyway. He usually keeps to the register but sometimes walks out to bring food and drinks to customers when they're dining in. Depending on if you know him or not, this might be quite the service, or really, it's just weird enough to see it in general without anything in particular happening.
So either you see him at the register, or you've sat down and are waiting for your food or drink to be brought to you. It'll be Hisoka there, and it's hard to say what mischief he might spark up depending on who you are, or the impression you give. But hey, it IS kind of nice to be served in a cafe by a pretty nice looking guy, right? At least there's that, and he's really not afraid to flirt either.
B2 - Heropa - Lucky Cat Café [Weekday mornings, except Friday]
Or maybe- you're 'lucky' enough to catch him on his break. But he won't be doing much aside from sitting at one of the tables with something sweet to eat infront of him. Hisoka's always been known to like company though. Why not join him? As someone he knows or not.
Or ignore him and walk past-
Well, try to walk past. For some reason, your foot sticks to the ground right as you try to walk past his table.
There's an awkward pause and Hisoka slowly turns to look up to you with a slightly confused look on his face. Of course it's a lie, he's the reason you're stuck there at all! But he's pretending like he hasn't a clue.
"Did you need something?" A smile, setting his chin on a hand. "Or are you trying to say hello?"
C - Maurtia Falls - Drink up
Well, you did have a drink. You came to this bar not long ago and are pretty sure you only got a couple sips in, not the whole glass. So where is it? Some looking around and you'll notice whatever you were drinking is being picked up by someone else now. A man with bright pink hair in a white and light blue suit.
He smiles to you, picking up and tipping the glass back despite it definitely not being his own. How rude. Just get your own drink, jackoff.
"Hm?" A thoughtful look over to you. He'll lick his lips, tilting his head a little, and offer a small smile.
"What? Is there a reason you're sitting way over there?" Come to think of it- even if that drink DOES look like yours, how did it get all the way over there to this guy? Wouldn't you have seen him get up and come over and take it?
Wildcard - Make your own
If none of the above prompts appeal to you but you'd like to play out something with Hisoka, feel free to just make something up and post it in here! I'll follow along no problem. Hisoka's pretty active and everywhere so it's likely he'll get into all sorts of situations.
If you want to play something with me and aren't sure about what though, just message Hisoka's journal and I'd love to work out something with you.
October 16, midday
That's the first text Ken sends in ten days, not that anybody who doesn't regularly check in on him could find out. Maybe Hisoka knows, maybe he saw it mentioned on the network, or maybe he doesn't. Either way, Ken hasn't announced his return to anybody yet, and he's not about to mention it to Hisoka either if he doesn't know. Right now, he just needs someone who'll give him this without those extra questions.
There's no leftover adrenaline from the battles. That's already settled hours ago, and at first he'd been in a rather peaceful state of mind. But as he got led through Cape Canaveral and his memories of this world returned, his hear had started racing and there was gross, cold sweat trickling down his back despite the weather cooling in preparation for winter. Flashes of the battles he fought run through his mind -- the shadowy figure that looked like Minato, the glint of metal before Metis' rod sliced under his eye, the blaze of fire before it consumed him -- and he also thinks of the days he had here, nights he spent with his friends, days he sat and talked about the future with Minato and the resolutions he had reached in the differing worlds clash and reject each other like repelling sides of magnets, like oil and water.
He can't face anybody without letting it all out, first.

So he'll meet him, telling him the address of a parking structure he's used for that paintball fight not long ago, and for a few spars since. Abandoned, and with a good amount of space. They can move if Ken prefers not to fight there too after they've met at that location.
"How surprising." He'll say as he steps up towards the large cement building, though his eyes are on something much more intriguing than the location itself. He'll pinpoint Ken quickly, walking over to him already dressed for work in a rather bright orange and red suit with black tie. He feels his heart fluttering though, and should this fight be really something, if it IS to be a fight, he doesn't mind being a little late to work.
"It's been a while, Ken." Said with a gesturing hand, his head tilting.
no subject
"Hi, Hisoka-san," he says, and he looks directly at the man as he does. It should be clear at a glance that his big eyes aren't as dead as they used to be, the fire not smoldering sinisterly like it did before. They're steady, and so is Ken as he waits, although the look is far from being careless.
No, it's not that Ken is here to fuck around. There's a calmness to him, but it's like the calmness of water, ready to be stirred up and violent at any time. He's just lacking that desperate struggle he had before, although there is a hint of frustration that crosses his face once they're close enough.
"Thanks for coming out here."
no subject
Mn- had something happened? He knows barely anything about Ken's personal life and he really isn't looking to learn more. But he's interested if only to know why his expression looks the way it does now. There's life there, desire, but less turmoil and desperation. And while desperation and strife could be something to enjoy, the way Ken looks at him now is so much more appealing. He can sense and see Ken has ripened even further, even without knowing if he's improved in skill, that look alone shows change.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I? I missed you."
no subject
If he tried hard enough, he could crush it. These feelings, the frustration and grief building up inside as his acceptance of Minato's death in Iwatodai clashes with the mistaken desire he had in this world to continue living with him. There is no real struggle for an answer -- in the end, it was the same with Shinjiro, and they can try to keep going here, especially now that Ken was in no hurry to go back -- but no matter how many times you experience it and no matter what second chance you may have, it hurts, to even for a moment think you might never hear somebody's voice again.
I want to see him.
It was a promise I made while holding his cold hand.
The laughter dies quickly but Ken keeps the smile to himself, shaking his head.
"But... I guess I missed even someone like you, too, Hisoka-san. I just have some aggression I need to let out today. You're not in a hurry, are you?"
no subject
That sadness. Something about Ken has always been sad in a way, but now- it lingers side by side that calm confidence in him. Something sorrowful and deep. And he's so young- well better to learn early and get it out of the way, hm?
Aggression he says, and Hisoka's lips part a little, he feels a chill move down his body, down from his neck. His eyes slim a little and he sets a hand on his hip in order stop himself from twitching his fingers.
"Of course."
"No. Not at all." Not for you. Hw won't question why either, he won't pry at all. Just like Ken wants. He doesn't need to, he's already going to get what he wants. And his curiosity is hardly enough to delay this.
no subject
It's not like Ken's been gone for years. It's only been a few months -- just five, quick months that sped by in the blink of an eye. He actually got older in his eight months in Nonah than he did in the days that passed in Iwatodai. Yet still, it's pretty obvious how much has changed in him in that shorter time. The sorrow, the confidence, the increased ease with which he carries himself. He grew into his skin, really.
"It's funny. It's not like I'm struggling for an answer like I did before. I actually know myself a lot better than I did... a week ago? I think that's how long it was here. So I know that knowing something doesn't stop me from feeling another thing."
He shrugs his shoulders and looks up at the building behind them.
"I just need to move around a little and get rid of some tension. Are we going in here?"
*he
Hisoka shrugs up a hand, moving towards the parking structure and thus towards Ken. His pace is slow and he steps past him but pauses enough to glance down and over to him.
"Why you want this doesn't really matter, it's that you want it at all, boy. I'll give you what you ask." A dark smile, his eyes slimming, and he looks forward again, starting towards the large building once more. He won't rush it, though his skin keeps tingling and his stomach is still knotting. Some tension, ah- how much? He wants it- he wants this boy. He's happy he's returned to fight with him.
no subject
His answer is his own and nobody can affect it. There is no need to answer or explain to anybody, especially not to Hisoka, who only needs to know Ken's will to fight. And that -- that he ca give. He can do that. Ken has never, not even once in his two years, taken his fights as something for fun. There had always been a purpose, no matter who the opponent was. No matter how impossible the objective seemed. He had started fighting for the sake of revenge. Now, there are faces that come to mind when he thinks about those he wants to protect.
Minato-san...
You, I will always guard.
... Well, that wasn't a lie, now, was it?
He lets out a laugh and turns to follow Hisoka, rolling his shoulders.
"I want to get stronger. That's all you need."
no subject
"You know me well. Yes, Ken, for you to get stronger is all I need." His lips peeling open a little, feeling a slight chill. Good boy. Hisoka was strangely simple in that, in what he wanted. People like Ken, they always did have some purpose. To get stronger for something. Someone. But Hisoka just-
Wanted it.
Wanted his own strength, wanted the strength of others. That alone influenced him.
It could be said that his desire to be more came from his upbringing, or lack there of. Or perhaps some difficulty he has looking back at being from a literal garbage city and being worth that much himself, wanting to grow from it. To be more. To feel more. It could be said he grasped onto something as vivid as desire and pleasure because they were something he lacked earlier in life, and he never learned to enjoy what sorrows and commitment to people could really gain him in the end.
A lot could be said.
But who knows.
To him, all there was was what he wanted. What he felt. And that's all he needed.
no subject
It's nice and simple. Ken doesn't feel the need to depend on him anymore, but he appreciates the simplicity of their relationship.
"I don't think my Persona will fit in here... I kind of want to practice with hands-on combat. See if I can get a hit in."
no subject
Hisoka moves through the first level, finding the stairs, and opens the heavy, rusted door. It opens with little issue, letting out a stale cement and dust smell from the stone and metal steps in the stair well. Only five or stories to climb, not a big deal, right? And the roof will prove open enough for that ability of Ken's, a nice view as well for Hisoka.
no subject
Ken doesn't care where they go. His fighting style had changed over time -- he kept his stamina for healing skills nowadays, keeping the Zios and Hamas at bay as the spells cost more energy with Kala-Nemi's growth -- and he relied on his physical abilities more, but he has no qualms about using the Persona for Hisoka if it's his request. The fairness in him is strong and runs deep, making up the base of his personality. He answers firmly and surely, picking up the speed of his steps and starting to trot ahead of Hisoka up to the roof. He could've just jumped but he's with company, and he didn't want to leave Koromaru behind.
Once on the roof he's quick to move too. They were here for a purpose so there's no need to stall. With a swing of his hand the usual spear appears and he makes sure Koromaru is sitting somewhere safe before he turns to face his companion, the look in his eyes not angry but still strong.
"Whenever you're ready."
no subject
MMmm~
That look he gets when they're finally up there though. The wind this high chills you, but all he feels is heat having those eyes on him. What a good boy... His hands twitch slightly, and while Ken got out a weapon, he stays to unarmed, standing and watching him, eyes flickering to Koromaru for a moment, and to where he knows that 'gun' is kept.
"When I'm ready?" His lids lower, smiling.
"Oh Ken, I'm always ready for you..."
no subject
For now, he spins the spear a few times in his hands to gauge its weight. If feels the same. It looks different from the one he was using until yesterday, but it feels no less at home in his hands. Interesting. With a hum, he finally slaps the wood against his palm ready to use it. And Hisoka's invitation comes only a moment later.
"Thanks."
And he's kicking off, closing in on Hisoka in one leap before throwing out a kick. And another, and then another. He doesn't use his spear to attack but for leverage, standing it on the ground like a pole for him to swing himself around on.
no subject
Admire.
His eyes start at shoes and draw up over Ken's open stance, over his legs and slowing down near his hips before he follows the line of his upper body and draws his gaze to his arms. Down and up, the boy holds himself with sure sureness and anticipation prickles at his flesh and twists in his stomach. How many times over could he defeat Ken now? How thoroughly could he ruin him, and yet why would he? No, not yet, he wants to. He wants to taste him fully but knows it's far better to wait, to hold off and let what he has savour in his mouth. The heavy look he gives to such able hand and a sure expression, if only he was a little closer to perhaps see how fast his heart might be beating in the cord of that slim neck.
His hands slide over the outside of his thighs a little, just barely, before they've started.
Quickly he glances to Ken's hold on the weapon and knows immediately it will be held back for now, proven right when it's shoved down to give Ken push and pose, he pulls back. And arm goes up, bending tight at the elbow and Ken's leg will snap hard against the outside of that arm. His barely shakes Hisoka, those his muscles quake from the force and he smiles towards the boy slow.
Another kick, and a second block, a third, and a third block, this time moving to shove hard at Ken's leg with his arm, open up his front, and aims an uppercut with his other hand towards his jaw.
no subject
Nor is the slight grin that starts to peel across his face as he rolls with the impact against his leg and twists away from the man's arm. His fist whizzes past an ear and Ken's already got his attention on Hisoka's remaining hand and legs, ready for whatever other attack might come. At the same time he's swiftly letting go of his spear and let's it drop, vanish so that he can summon it again, this time to thrust the butt of the handle right at Hisoka's face.
no subject
His hands lift, palms both out, hand one against the other and the back just infront of his face. The butt of the spear slams into a palm and he grabs at it, shoving both hands forward. He'll push at the spear and thus Ken's arms and upper body, moving to try and throw him back HARD across the roof of the building and come after him in a sprint. Should he shove Ken back as far as he likes, he'll wind up an arm behind him fast and gunshot a punch towards him, his arm extending to really close the distance from him to Ken's gut.
no subject
And there's Hisoka. He sees him coming, feels him closing in, the arm snaking around behind him and another coming in fast. He can't dodge it, but as Ken opens his eyes wide and meets Hisoka's with them, it's clear he has no intent of even trying to. Without even trying to break his fall, Ken's already pulling out his Evoker and pressing it to his temple and yelling a name that should be his opponent's first time hearing:
"Kala-Nemi!"
The new Persona is much, much larger than her previous form. She appears more as a shadow over the two of them than as a visible figure as a large, large arm rips into the space between them with a fist the size of Koromaru aimed right for Hisoka's face. And Ken doesn't keep her around long. If Hisoka even tries to look, he's banishing his Persona back into his mind.
no subject
moving.
Instead he just stares up at her with his eyes going wide and his smile curling. The fist will meet it's target because he's quickly decided he wants it too. So whether he could dodge it or not doesn't matter. The fist strikes at him as he raises his arms up and blocks it from over his head. He feels it's pressure slam down on him and his legs brace, making a shuddered grunt of a sound as his eyes suddenly closed tight.
Not nearly enough to down him, and he's not even using his aura to shield, but still. It did, this new thing... this new Persona. She was different, Ken was different. The looks he gives Ken after Kala-Nemi is banished is a strangely--
happy one.
no subject
How close was Hisoka's fist to him before he leaped? That hit would've hurt. Probably hurt him as much as that table did. Probably would've been hard to battle afterwards, and he didn't have time to waste healing against this guy. But it's fine. It's fine, he dodged it even at last minute and he can almost feel Hisoka's fist in his gut but he survived it. Just like he survived everything so far.
He wipes sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand and finds himself grinning a little, almost matching Hisoka's expression.
"Come on, Hisoka-san," he calls. "I'm not the same as I was before."
no subject
"I wonder- did someone train you, Ken? Something indeed happened to cause such a change, I hadn't asked before now- these results... I'm impressed." Even if he could beat you if he tried, it's not about that, Hisoka won't brag to someone lesser than him, he's better than at least. He openly compliments him, sees how he's improved and is quite happy about it. This fight isn't to the death after all, it's more playful then that, or- like a teacher collecting an assignment or conducting a test.
He pulls in a long breath, turning around to face him as he moves a hand up to wipe at the side of his head, swiping a thumb over his lips.
"That expression you have Ken, you should smile."
no subject
Just not for Hisoka as much, and not often like this. But today, it lingers, and you could say Ken saunters forward to close the distance between them, tense and paying close attention, definitely not underestimating him, but at the same time absolutely unafraid. He can feel every beat of his heart, pumping blood through his body, but it's not the cold, scary kind. It's not like going into battle knowing he'll win; that wouldn't cause this sort of excitement. No, he's sure he'll lose to Hisoka if they went all out now, and he's nowhere close to beating him. But it was like when they first went in to battle Nyx. It's like when they faced Erebus, knowing exactly what it was. It didn't matter how strong or weak he was. All that matters was that he kept fighting.
He was probably right all along. Even if he could find anything else, fighting came naturally to him. He liked it. Trying to be strong, feeling himself grow stronger, fighting people who were stronger than him, like the man in front of him.
And as he adjusts his grip on his spear again, he thinks of the man he wants to get stronger for, and his frown lasts for just a moment before his expression sharpens again.
"A lot can happen. I just have a reason to get stronger now -- just stronger. That's all you've gotta know, right?"
no subject
"I'm happy for you." Gesturing a hand as he speaks, the other setting on his hip.
"Whatever it is, boy, to give you what you have now is inspiring. Remember to hold onto that feeling."
no subject
Minato gave his life for them, after all. It'll be a disservice, for him to be half-assed in his decisions following that. And Ken wasn't afraid of death; he was much more afraid of being powerless to save those close to him again. Being powerless was worse than anything, and a half-assed commitment will only get in the way of that. If it came down to it, he'll gladly lay down his life for those he loves. But...
"But I'm not saying that to be a martyr. I don't plan on dying that easily." After all, otherwise there would be no need to get stronger, is there? But here he is, glaring sharply at Hisoka. "And you're probably not interested in something like that either. So we just have to make it worth each other's while, right?"
