WHO: JEFF and KAREN
WHERE: Karen's apartment, De Chima.
WHEN: Evening of10/3 or 10/4. Whenever works for Spam.
WHAT: Lawyer at Large and no chill.
WARNINGS: TBA.
[ Karen may have only been able to afford an apartment all those months ago, and as much as she desperately needed to stop sleeping on her office couch, she still has standards. The one bedroom apartment is swanky enough in appearance, though interior decoration is particularly sparse. Karen keeps no belongings such as photos, figures, art, etc. asides from a number of snow globes lined along one of the shelves where some books lie. There's a tiny DVD collection of mostly horror films sitting atop another wall shelf and some books and magazines around the place, but that's as much "interior decorating" she's done.
Her orange cat is skulking around the living room vicinity, eyes intently focused on Jeff while trying to determine who this stranger is in his territory. Karen, wearing loose jogging pants and a plain tee, doesn't pay him any attention, behind the kitchen counter with a large box of pizza and looking for some glasses in her cupboard. ]
What are you having?

He lingers without seeming awkward, eyes only settling briefly on the cat before drifting about the rest of the apartment in interest, taking note of the lack of personal and sentimental items, if only because his own room is exactly the same. Not bad decor though.]
Uh. Wine? Or whiskey. Whatever's easiest.
btw did you want this on the 3rd or 4th? either works for me.
[ She turns around to pull open the door to the fridge, revealing it's packed full of food. It's probably an odd scene given only one woman lives in this apartment and there's only one bedroom. The small, pet-sized blanket on the bed will reveal the only person who sleeps with her in there is the cat himself.
She pulls both bottles out by their necks, giving them a wave for Jeff to see. ]
let's make it 4th because misfires were 3rd i think. literally doesn't matter either way tho
I dunno. White? I'm sure it'll go perfectly with pizza. [Not at all sarcastic. Nope. But worry not, he's no pizza snob. He's all for pizza and booze when it comes to TV and movies nights.]
What's with the cat? It keeps staring. Is he trying to psych me out?
4th is good
She lifts the box of pizza and the bottle with the glasses held between her fingers and brings them by the coffee table positioned between her couch and TV set. ]
I did tell you I wasn't a whiskey person.
Oh, him? [ She looks at her cat, who notices the box on the table and his next instinct is to investigate whether or not he can have what's inside it. ] He's shy with strangers, that's all.
[ He's a monster, Jeff. Watch out. ]

He doesn't look too shy. He looks more like a possible nightmare. [He has enough of that back home with raccoons, dogs and cats, he's not sure he's ready for it here as well.]
So long as he knows that cat hair on my clothes means kitty fan for him, then we're all cool.

[ She opens up the box, sets the glasses on the table and then pops open the champagne bottle without any trouble. Pouring them both full glasses, she keeps an eye out for the cat's curious paw reaching for the box before she nudges him away with her foot.
Karen slides one glass to the end where Jeff is going to sit and flops into her couch, kicking her legs up on her own table. ]
I hope this is good! Otherwise I'm putting on Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

With the DVD in and loading up, he moves to drop into the space left for him on the couch, immediately finding comfort in slouching and sprawling because yes, thank you, he will make himself at home. He'll even lean forward just long enough to help himself to a slice of pizza.]
It's gonna be good. You can trust me, I'm a lawyer. What are you even expecting?

[ Which is partly what makes it very intriguing; she doesn't mind some surprises, but honestly, what's the worst that could come of this? Unless it's downright offensive, the worst it can be is vapid and boring. ]
So this is your full-time job here, huh?

Yeah. I guess you could say that. It's the one they assigned me with when I showed up here and I've stuck to it. [Mostly because it plays so perfectly to his narcissism that it's worth the ball ache of being followed around by a camera crew for months.] But I ended up opening up my own firm, which kiiiind of coincides with the whole show thing, but I got clients who like to stay away from the cameras too. [Aka criminals.]
You got the science stuff, right?

[ Karen sits up for a moment to grab herself a slice of pizza, propping the bottom up with one hand and taking a quick bite from the tip. She gently wipes the corner of her mouth with a paper napkin. ]
When I was ported here with the first group, they had me working software.
[ Which is good money, but it was a literal demotion. ]
