Open Misfire Log!
WHO: Hiro + anyone with a comm!
WHERE: Your comm, courtesy of data-jumping and the server misfire event
WHEN: October 3rd
WHAT: Hiro tries to jump back into his own comm and misses. Badly. Repeatedly. Shenanigans ensue.
WARNINGS: Probably none!
[ The good thing about being able to data-jump is that it makes the commute into De Chima ridiculously easy. Set up two beacons - one in his comm, the other at his work terminal - and just follow that path back and forth. He doesn't even have to think and he's there.
Unfortunately, those beacons are just as dependent on the server update as the rest of the network ... and when the misfires start happening, Hiro's beacons get mixed up too. What should be a big bright arrow pointing to his comm is just complete garbage ... meaning he's going to end up in a whole lot of comms that he shouldn't be before he finally makes his way home.
For those getting the misfire, there's a only a quick ping, like receiving a message, before a very confused teenager's face appears on the viewscreen. He does, at least, keep from going through any data, but that means he has to look out at the surroundings to try and figure out where he is. Which means staring up at whoever's comm he's in now. ]
Seriously? Not again.

..Hiro? [A surprisingly informal address, but he's rather surprised to see a miniature Hiro on his screen, standing in front of a wall of text messages from Newton. Leaving whatever dissertation he's writing, he plucks up the device and adjusts his glasses]
That's not how video works..
no subject
He looks up at Hermann, then over at the computer screen. Whoa. Definitely not his room - he's somewhere completely different. ]
No, uh - I'm inside your comm. Hi?
no subject
A power of yours? [Because if that isn't the strangest thing he's seen today. The boy is interfaced with his phone. He almost wants to ask if he's stuck, but that seems a little absurd- right? There are ever more mysteries in this world.
Hermann's thumb hesitates over the return button, then presses it to bring them back to the uncluttered home screen. There's just a cool image of the super blood moon that happened less than a week ago, and a few shortcuts up top.]
Is there anything I can do for you, Mr. Hamada?
no subject
Yep, it's definitely a power. Usually I use it to go between work and home? But the network is messed up. None of my beacons ar working.
[ In other words, he's lost rather than stuck. Unless Hermann decides to turn off the wifi functions for some reason. ]
no subject
[He'd love to ask about it, but there'll be time for that- probably. More pressingly, there's something wrong with the network? Hm.]
I could establish a link between this device and my laptop, if that would be beneficial in any way. I'm not entirely certain how your ability functions, but it could be possible to 'send' you through an alternative connection from there.
no subject
[ He's just trying not to be more annoying than he already is. Hermann seems like the kind of guy who doesn't want strange teenagers in his room. Laptop would be nice though ... It's a little awkward talking to someone from the comm due to the sheer size difference in the screen. ]

Hermann pats around for the USB cord, then hooks up the comm to his laptop. The phone could use some more battery. He taps a key to save his work and closes the document. A good time for a break as any.]
You're free to visit if you'd like, else hang about until you can send yourself back home. Newton's around here somewhere..
no subject
I might take you up on that actually. I've been trying to find my way home all day and it's just murder doing that many jumps.
no subject
Hermann nods, then sits back and straightens up, popping his back with a wince. Should really get or build a proper desk for this thing.]
Well I'm going to see about making some tea. Make yourself comfortable if you decide to join us.
[Reaching for his cane, he levers himself up and wanders off into the kitchen]
no subject
Jeez...
no subject
When did you get here? Hermann, why didn't you tell me Hiro was coming to visit?! Are you OK? What the hell happened--fall off the sofa?
no subject
Mr. Hamada has an interesting ability, and appeared rather suddenly in my communicator. He's come out to visit.
[From his voice, it sounds like something that happens every day. Assured everything is fine and Newton will probably just have questions better left to Hiro, Hermann turns back to fixing their tea.]

[ He sits on the couch awkwardly and waves to Newt. ]
I was trying to get home.
no subject
I mean, that's cool, yeah. So, what, you just cruise through the internet? Do you get turned into data or what? I'm surprised Hermann isn't here picking your brain for info, because this is totally HIS THING. And you know, I'll totally walk you home later if you wanna go the old-fashioned way.
no subject
... Why would Hermann pick my brain?

no subject
Regular teleportation, I assure you. But yes, I must say I'm curious. Fortunately, I have some sense of etiquette and realize those questions can wait until our guest is comfortable.
no subject
Learn some manners, Newton.
You'd think I wasn't house-trained the way he talks about me.
no subject
Are you house-trained though? I can't tell.
... Seriously though, I'll answer any questions you want. It's a really cool power.
no subject
It's a work in progress.
[Circling around to settle down with a cup of tea himself]
Is there a limit to the type of devices you're able to interface with?
no subject
Some kind of communication annnnd enough processing speed and space to hold me, or else there's issues. Bricked comms are definitely no good.

Communication, I see. So networked devices, then. What about radio frequencies?
