Kaneki decided to take this day for his family; Hinami, Touka and Hide. They'd go to the beach and spend a good time tgether. But for someone who hoped quiet family time, that won't happen. Hinami will bring her friends, and maybe friends of friends. Maybe Hide or Touka will do the same.

In the end, this day at the beach is for everyone. Did you hear from a friend of a friend of a friend people were going to meet at the beach today? Drop by if you'd like! Were you already taking a walk at the beach and noticed a big group of imPorts? Then this is the chance to make friends! Everyone can come and enjoy!

But bring food. Because Kaneki sure didn't bring any (unless you are a fan of coffee like Cannibal family is).

[Hopefully Hinami is okay with being splashed because THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING. Mostly because Koromaru is so excited about the beach that he dove right into the water and he's swimming now, paddling through the waves with just a leash keeping him attached to the Ken following around behind him. Ken's just short enough that chest height to Hinami is already up to his chin, but he's doing his best wading in the water not to sink under the surface.

Except even a small wave at this depth is enough to get in his face so Hinami will be able to hear a "wah!" followed by some sputtering from right behind her. And if she turns around, there's Koro.]

turn around she does, peering down at koromaru. ] Hi, Koromaru! Should we take Ken-chan back a bit, do you think?

[Koromaru cannot tread water so when he reaches her desperately shoves his head against her PLEASE HOLD HIM HE WILL SINK as Ken spits out a mouthful of salt and seaweed and floats up to her. His usually flippy hair is now plastered to his face.]

N-no I'm okay, I just didn't see the wave coming. Koromaru wanted to come see you.

[ she holds the dog to her without complaint, scratching at his ears. the poor thing is obviously in grave danger and needs cuddles.

hinami does her best not to giggle at ken's hair. she really does. ]

I'm glad you guys came with us!

[Oh yes this is the stuff. His tail wags even in the water. Why did Ken never let him visit her before??? What a rude punk.]

Thanks for inviting us. I'm glad it was still warm enough for it even in September, I hadn't gone to the beach at all this summer. Are you having fun?

Yes! I just wish I could go in farther without having to ask someone to take me.

[ she is like the dog. smol and unable to doggie paddle. ]

You don't know how to swim?

[He's only curious. There's nothing mean about the way he asks this at all]

[ and not being in school, she'd never been to the pool. ]

It'll be useful to at least know how to tread water... I can show you?

...Okay. [ it seems harmless enough. she's definitely holding koro tighter in worry, though. ] As long as I don't get dragged out by the waves.

I won't let it happen. [Sometimes he can speak so confidently. He holds out his hand.]

We'll have to go a little deeper, though.

[ the most dangerous trust fall. she takes his hand, the other still secure around the dog. ]

[Ken kind of sort of for sure knows that if anything happened Kaneki will save Hinami, at least. What a scary protective dad. But Ken's grip on Hinami is firm, and he'll also reach over and pull Koromaru over to him so her hands are free.]

Basically, the difference between treading water and swimming is if you're vertical or not. If you're floating straight up and down, you're treading water, and you can move your arms and legs to keep your head above the surface. Like me, right now.
