[ open ] age of blob event

WHO: Everyone
WHERE: Nonah and surrounding areas
WHEN: May 22 & May 23
WHAT: blobs. blobs every where.
WARNINGS: Gross blobs, half digested organic material, science man

May 22 [ day 1 ]
In the early mornings of May 22, glasses shatter in Hank Pym's personal labs; A few test tubes and vials of unspecified goop, leak out. Nothing really unusual when your personal lab is a traveling mint container, used to living in your pocket. Nothing unusual when the unspecified goop disappears out of site, leaving only broken glass and a label with messy-neat hand writing on it.

"! / C / E"

! signifies dangerous, C for corrosive and E for experimental. Hank finds the glass and takes stock of his inventory. That was 5:14AM.

NOON: Nonah government housing area
If you have pets or a healthy garden you looked forward to blooming, today is your unlucky day. Pets go missing, your outdoor cat isn't suddenly only a slimed over collar. If you're an import in the area, there are cries of pet owners being devastated, you might think nothing of it, well then you might be heartless. Should you wish to investigate on a missing pet, that's your prerogative, man. But if you think you saw a big ol' slime ball the size of your fist, the size of a small child even, lurking around, people will answer with the ever appropriate tinfoil hat.

But really, you will find them near sewers, alleys and near garbage dumps.

7:42PM: Nonah government housing area
BREAKING NEWES!!

First reported case of a civilian being dragged into the sewers by a mysterious slime and later, cartoon-ishly, the hip bone was spit out. The young and adventurous seeking news reporter, Tom Gibson, is subsequently consumed by the emerging blob.

Good night and thank you, Tom.

ImPorts listening into this can investigate and should for everyone's sake. If you suffer the same fate as Tom, that's on you.

Meanwhile, Hank Pym is trying to fix his own mess. That is not in the news.

May 23 [ day 2 ]
EARLY MORNING - NOON: all around Nonah
The masses range from 7'-10' now. Reports of similar incidents have been scattered but growing more and more frequent. News of Tom Gibson becomes a memory as the number of incidents rise steadily. Imports and those who are determined to see themselves as heroes are called to help.

There are still residents who think this is a joke. The blobs are slow moving; there are teenagers poking at it, throwing items of non-importance into it and helping its growing mass. People see it move across the street and take selfies in front of it, unaware of the slime juice that's creeping near their feet.

Or if you're a heartless and cruel individual, this would be a great time to cleanly "take care" of a few "problems"

CONCLUSION: Nonah city center
In Nonah's tallest building, you can see now there are blobs everywhere. You can't turn a corner without seeing one. Most people can avoid it but this requires more than a brisk walk now. Residents are still taking photos but this is becoming less of a sport and more of a danger. They are urged to stay indoors and the new news reporter, Sherry Wyman, cast doubts on the Import's ability to handle this.

On cue, the cameraman switches the view from the reporter to the conglomerate of a slime blob. Layers of these creatures have piled on, some are absorbed to the singular being underneath, creating a 300 feet tall slime ball that has taken to liking a particular bridge in Nonah, one in which the train regularly passes by, and judging by a trail of train cabins that are already present in the blob, one has already passed and it is now stuck inside the creature.

[Gogo heard the call on the network, not sure whether or not to believe what the hell was going on, but it was only a quick porter trip to Nonah and if it was real then people were being killed. She couldn't just sit at home.

Two minutes in Nonah and, yeah, mutant blobs about as big as she is are definitely a thing. That's reassuring. Checking that her armor is in place, she heads out into the city. The first thing she sees is a couple of kids taking pictures, unheeding of the three foot blob creeping on their sneakers.

Cursing, Gogo launches a disc, slicing clean through the blob. The kids scatter in shock, staring as she skates up to them. Running over the remains for good measure.]

Get out of here and stop playing with things that'll kill you.

[Yeah, that'll work. Way to go. She catches her disc on its return, pleased that the goo didn't stick to it, and moved on.]

[Speaking of kids in need of saving!

At least Megaman has a relatively good reason for getting into this mess, since he is trying to fight them. Unfortunately, he can't move and shoot at the same time, so more often than not he has to choose between shooting a blob and not getting nommed by it. It's a flaw he's really starting get annoyed by.

It's also how his latest civilian rescue turns into him getting cornered, with several smaller blobs all advancing on him at once and no nearby networks to plug into. He's still shooting at them when he can, trying to clear a path. He's really not making as much headway as he'd like, though, and he's running out of room to maneuver.]

[She'd long since found a pattern in their movements, including a minor disaster of several having merged together into one larger beast that had taken her much longer to cut down to size.

So when she sees the cluster of them all gathering like that she doesn't hesitate to act.

Gogo circles wide to build up momentum before throwing her discs. They spin in a devastating arc, cutting right through several of the blobs before their magnets guide them back. Then, before the blobs could even realize the presence of another organic, Gogo is diving down and an angle to drive the larger discs into several more.

She stops in front of Megaman, crouched low to the ground and ready to run. There are too many to fight in such a small space.]

Get on, kid!

[Megaman might've had a few ideas for how someone might try to get him out of this situation, but that sure wasn't one of them. If only because it feels more like something that would happen in the cyber world than the real world. This woman even looks like a navi.

She's also offering to carry him out of here, which is awesome if not completely ideal. He might be strong, but he doubts he could hang on by himself with how fast she was going, and having to keep him from falling off would mean losing the use of the weapons on her arms. Disabling weapons when surrounded is tactically unsound, but she needs to carry him out of here somehow. There really isn't any other option...

...except Skatewoman's also wearing a suit, and he can feel an accessible cyber world now and he couldn't before and that gives him a much--]

--better idea!

[He puts on hand on her shoulder, and Gogo might see a flash of light out of the corner of her eye before the weight of that hand just suddenly disappears moments before Megaman's voice comes out of her helmet's comm.]

I'm here! Let's go!
maglevflash: (Later losers)

[personal profile] maglevflash 2015-05-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Normally that would be enough to give her pause to ask questions, but the blobs were advancing, some of them already merging with each other, and her space to run was shrinking by the second.

With a single glance behind her to make sure he really was gone, she launched her discs at the blobs to her left, clearing open a space to build momentum.

It was a close escape. She didn't have the speed to go up the wall and over the monsters, had to twist around them and, at one point bend under, using the maglev on her wrists as wheels to get through a small gap beneath an attack.

Then she was free to run, and in moments she had built up speed and was finding a safe space to catch her breath.]

You're...Megaman, right? [Cautiously.]

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-05-31 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He wouldn't have blamed her for asking, while moving or otherwise. Or, you know. Yelling in surprise or anything like that. He knows his powers can be a surprise to anybody who doesn't know what he is. So he doesn't really fault her for the caution when he hears it.]

Yeah, that's me!

[Can't help but be curious as to how she knows him, though. Have they met before? Does she know anyone who'd mention him? He feels like he's heard her voice before, he just can't remember where.]

I'm sorry, have we met? You sound familiar, but... [Ugh, stupid fallible human memory. He hates not having perfect recall all the time anymore.]
maglevflash: (Just a slight miscalculation)

[personal profile] maglevflash 2015-05-31 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[She had no idea how he was doing it, or where he went, but at least the conversation itself was something she could handle. Now if only the rest of the day could go according to plan.

She had gained some high ground, so as she sits and rests she can watch the nearby streets for ooze, tracking the few the had attempted to follow her finally turn the corner.]

We spoke briefly at the renaissance.

[Gogo still wasn't sure what to do with the fact that she managed to learn how to joust within half an hour. Never again is she going to let curiosity tell her to play with the scientific anomaly plants.]

Are you...okay?
megabytes: (pic#8834654)

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-05-31 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
--oh! You were that jouster!

[Yeah, you made quite the impression, Gogo. No wonder you were so good if you're a fighter like this. (Combat-spec navi logic)]

Yeah, I'm fine. Got out of there just in time. Thanks for that, by the way.

[He sure does sound sheepish. He's a combat navi, dangit, and he's fought things like this before. He should be able to keep himself from needing to be saved.

...though given how the whole Alpha Incident ended for him... No, not thinking about that. Not the time. Fight now, fret later.]

What's the situation? I can't see from here.
maglevflash: (I can't with this stupidity)

[personal profile] maglevflash 2015-06-01 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
A few followed us and they're pretty much just wandering around. I stuck us on a roof though, so I'll need to move to get a better look.

[As she's talking she does stand to do so, double checking to make sure the street they had been on was empty of any potential victims.]

In the meantime...how are you doing this? Where are you?
megabytes: (pic#9088475)

[personal profile] megabytes 2015-06-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Knowing that they aren't moving and aren't surrounded is all he needs. Another flash of light and he's standing right next to her, buster "drawn" and scanning the area. First blob he spots gets lined up for a shot.]

I was in your suit's comm. [Said as though it was the most normal thing in the world.] I'm an AI, I can access and enter the cyber world of any tech big enough or complex enough to have one.

[Closer, closer....there. Blob finally oozes into viable range and Megaman fires. The violet plasmoid "bullet" slams into it and practically vaporizes it from the heat alone - and then impacts the pavement behind it and throws up a spray of semi-molten asphalt. Whoops.]
maglevflash: (pic#9223086)

[personal profile] maglevflash 2015-06-24 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
[That's...

No, you know what? After everything else so far today that is entirely normal. She is beyond asking questions that aren't 'how do we kill these things', which, consequently was just answered.]

That's a pretty useful power. [The network hopping or the blasting? Who knows which one she's talking about.]
