May "Mayday" Parker | Spider-Girl! ([personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal) wrote in [community profile] maskormenacelogs2015-03-25 07:27 pm

Hello, I'm sorry, I've lost myself

WHO: Mayday, Normie, Kanaya, Peter, perhaps others?
WHERE: Primarily Nonah #4
WHEN: Ageswap threads run from March 25 to March 29; and elsewhen
WHAT: Did you think the whole spider and goblin thing couldn't get weirder or possibly more convoluted? It turns out it can. And maybe catchall things set before all of this craziness.
WARNINGS: Possibly none, this can change.

Normie didn't know what was going on. He knew he was at a carnival, and that when he was there, he was different. Then something happened and he became as he was now. But why would he be any different? He paused to try and recall who he was before, but quickly grew frustrated and bored. Still, he at least remembered one thing: someone had been with him at the carnival. His friend, May. She wasn't here now, and he couldn't remember seeing her after... whatever it was that made everything different. Just to be sure, Normie checked the house for her: in the rooms, the closets, even the hampers, though the entire time a little voice in the back of his head kept telling him how stupid looking there was.

Once he was convinced he searched every nook and cranny, he went over to where May was examining herself in the mirror and pulled on her pant leg.

"Hey, MJ...? Where's Mayday? We were playing and now she's gone. Do you think she was kidnapped?"

Normie's faced scrunched at that information. No, that wasn't right. Mayday was big like him, but not that big. ...Wait. He wasn't big at all. Something wasn't right...

"No, you're too big to be Mayday. Do you think Daddy took her? Daddy took me once, but it wasn't really him."

"It might not really be him. I don't like all the people that play pretend."

Why wasn't MJ taking this seriously? And why did she ask him how old he was. Duh, he was--

"Twe--" He stops. That can't be right. Twenty is way too big. Still, it could be right. "Twenty?"

"It could just be someone playing pretend as Daddy!"

Jeez, MJ, this is serious! May's missing! And May's very important to him.

"What accident? Did I do something bad?"

Normie bit the inside of his lip as he pondered that. "Did Spider-Man do it?"

A frown. No, he was wrong. Spider-Man wasn't bad.

"Can he help?"

Old habits, you know. Even if this was a young body.

At her statement about the Fantastic Five, he frowns. "But they aren't here."

"Like Tony Stark or Big Man's dad?"

He made a face. Neither of those seemed like great options, but maybe he was biased. Normie looked around the room.

"When's Mayday coming back? Are you sure she's not kidnapped?"

"But you're Auntie M." Sorry May, he's really adamant about that. He can't imagine what you'd look like older, so he can't make the connection. "May isn't a grown-up."

For now, at least. Normie smiled at the hair tussling, then gently tugged at her arm.

"Can we play something?"

"I wanna make something!"

He frowned a bit as thoughts of smoke bombs came to mind. Why would he want to make something so silly? And why did he know how to make it? Ah well.

"Do you have any LEGOs, Auntie M?"
